that's a fair criticism, a lot of the album suffers from sounding "undercooked"
in a way though thats what may bring me back to this album. It's just an quick, easy listen that you can throw on. His last album was 45 minutes but felt like an hour and a half and a chore to get through. This is refreshing. I think this is a nice step towards finding a balance between his more mainstream leaning stuff and this, which was clearly him trying to "prove" something after the criticism around his last album.
Pretty much the entirety of the 3rd verse is saying it's not ride or die fam
See my post above, I know but the wording is just weird at parts
ay i appreciate the fact we can all have a civil discussion about this without it getting heated

Still don't really get what ur trying to say.
That line isn't the same as when s*** hits the fan are you still a fan. It's more like I'm still a fan depending on what type of s*** you dealing with
i think they're talking about the pressure that can come from feeling like you have to "stick up" for your brothers in situations like these
it's talked about a lot how frequently men are outed as rapists and their boys just live with that knowledge without doing anything because "that's gang"
what jack is saying on ggg is that s*** is stupid and toxic
It's a deeper conversation imo. Brotherhood is dead. "Blame on Me" explores this more in depth imo.
keeping things pushing is a masculine trait. it's a build and protect kinda thing. what the f*** is unconditional love then? who holds the true keys to unconditional love? think about that.
exactly i said this last night but being in that position is unfortunately far too common nowadays
i havent personally been in that situation but i know plenty of people who have
You should write a song about how you know other people who have rapist friends
We might need that perspective too fr
It was clearly a joke I just felt like getting notifications in the morning
you got me
Definitely a step in the right direction even if I don’t love the content through this album
a mature effort and short enough making you want more from it
man i love denver but im ngl i feel blue balled from it lmao
ending of the track kinda sounds like he's about to go in but it just ends
only song that i really wish was longer
I like this, has the vibe of a well done mixtape or something. Doesn’t try to do too much, just him showing a bit what he can do with his pen after doing a couple diet Drake albums
A good career refresh for him
Super enjoyable but overall an insignificant project
Looking forward to his next big project
in its essence it’s not, but it can definitely be insidious and toxic
There are many examples of this
Fraternities, fight club, gangs
That's a hard blanket to toss over male relationships...
these bonds helped to build our current society
you can say aren't down with the patriarchy, etc
But to generalize male relationships into being "toxic" is going way too far imo

I understand but I just think the language he’s using basically implies things that he might not actually be trying to say. It reads to me like there’s a level of nuance in the verse where he’s kind of asking himself about that concept of being loyal and what the limits are. It doesn’t feel cut and dry “I cut him off” it reads that he’s conflicted to me. So some people take that nuance and feel like it’s being too forgiving to even touch those thoughts.
But on the flip he’s not just virtue signaling proudly saying “I cut him off it’s dead it’s over”. I feel like in those lines it’s kind of like “damn man we were supposed to be unconditional love, is there such thing? What’s the limits what’s the conditions? What’s the limit of my loyalty?” idk it feels like a real thought process. And I don’t think it’s completely unambiguous
Lmao
Was definitely an influence
6/10
Better than his last album
His rapping and the beats are something you can say is good on paper but nothing stands out that makes you want to return to it

yeah I don’t disagree, I’m glad we have brotherhoods. my point is s*** is not always dandy.
men do horrible things to other men, men fall out with other men because of women, money issues etc. it’s not only men that deal with this but as a man you understand the complexity that brotherhood can bring
6/10
Heavy j Cole and Drake influence.
He still hasn't become his own tho. Production was good
He's not really saying much in most of the songs
i think they're talking about the pressure that can come from feeling like you have to "stick up" for your brothers in situations like these

He doesn’t really say it’s stupid or toxic though. Maybe you could interpret that but what I got is that he also feels that pressure himself to be a loyal ride or die so it’s a conflicting confusing moment to have that come to an end. It’s not black and white either way it’s a lot more nuanced than either side is making it I think. Some people are on one extreme I think you’re on another
