MisfitA best pic winner that I dont see enough people trashing is The Artist. Probably the most forgettable winner of the 21st century
its not a good movie but it's also just bad in a boring way. its not like, you know, offensive.

Now that doesn’t mean I think it deserves 13 nominations or really a best pic nom in general but I think there’s a lot of unnecessary dog piling happening online. Once Twitter decides to hate a movie everyone with an account has to make it known they hate it. It’s most likely gonna lose and all this talk about how it’s the worst movie to her be nominated or whatever will be forgotten since people only really remember the winners.
The stuff with Karla is disappointing and she hasn’t handled herself well at all so I can’t blame anyone for being upset with her.
Anyway, I haven’t been on here in a minute and just wanted to share my thoughts. Whole thing kinda being overblown

Just to clarify, my opinion is that the hate for the movie is overblown not the drama surrounding it or its actors

Yeah probably. Gotta remember most of film Twitter were very vocal about not even liking musicals before Wicked came out. Awkward lyrics are part of the genre they’re singing what in a regular movie would be dialogue. Though I have said in my initial post itt that the songs are very hit or miss
I saw a YouTube video today talking about the drama and dude said “say what you want about Green Book but at least it was uplifting” lol so you never know in a few years there may be another movie that comes out people hate on that’ll have people look at this more fondly

I was just reading the tweets, and it's exactly as you said (obviously sarcasm). Some of those tweets are being interpreted in bad faith. But like you said, she also did say some really offensive things, and the consequences for her words are deserved.

Keep in mind, the French are the second biggest colonizers in history, leaving behind a trail of exploited and ransacked peoples (most of them in Africa and the Caribbean). They imposed their language and culture on countless nations, stripped them of resources, and still maintain economic and political influence over many of their former colonies. And yet, this director has the audacity to look down on Spanish. The irony is wild.
