Ngl these mfs might have let the world have the sound for too long without building a real position in the game.

Other artists have extracted all of the good things about the PI sound and fleshed them out into things that are better than what PI currrently produces.

I love them but they really gotta put the pedal to the metal at some point.

I think he retroactively resents his decisions & reputation (alliteration of the day). He’s now the shadowy recluse with an unfinished album who’s permanently attached to a Drake loosie. All things were pointing towards him getting his mojo back but when album time comes around he gets quiet and he hasnt seemed to break that pattern of psyching himself out. Hopefully he’s letting Fabiana go first and then we get more Jai because im begging to be proven wrong this time

Yeah I completely understand him too because as I was getting at in that post, I really don’t know if he can release anything that’s arguably better than his derivatives.

The sound isn’t new anymore and it’s like PI is leaning into the things that inspired
their sound instead of building upon it.

I know it would suck to have the world run off with your sound and find more success not because you failed but because you never tried.

So where do you think they could go sound wise

Literally anywhere lol that mk.gee song I posted is full of PI sound and at one point he was sounding like a PI clone but he took it to another level.

If you have a scale with Prince on one end, PI in the middle and whatever the sound could evolve into on the other end, PI is drifting toward Prince when they should be going the other way regardless of the outcome. You don’t lean into your influences you build upon them.

100% agree - PI sounds incredibly outdated and predictable to me. Some of the music that was helmed because of Bait Ones sound brilliant. That Untitled Mk.gee track is like the best track to come out of Jai wave:

I'm personally past a Jai Paul album, if he ever drops I'll be the first to listen but his whole career is so underwhelming and the enigma around him just rubbed off. They simply don't care to play the industry rules and it's fine.
