i don’t know what to think bout this. if the people that stormed the capital were BLM related protestors they’d prob be shot dead by the dozens. and so nor do i think the idea of what they did necessarily can just be given a slap on the wrist

i just question the optics of this grand circus. it gives the right more culture war bullshit to spew. these hearings should have been kept lowkey and not so in the publics faces, and i get they want to send a message of sorts that this was really a reprehensible act, as so neither side thinks of doing anything like it again because they, congress people, can’t stand being put into a situation causing even the slightest fear within themselves.

as i said though, i just think the optics are bad. it riles up the maga side even more, and would be more beneficial if they maybe made a circus around something like gun control so to keep the publics focus on actual issues facing peoples day to day lives and maybe even get people to care enough about it that they’ll vote out their representatives if they don’t vote how they want them to, because it all comes back to voting right dems?

The light hand after the failed Beer Hall Putsch of 1923 is exactly what gave the German right wing ammo to recruit more people every day

Crush any dissent from this group and humiliate everyone as publicly as possible

I was looking for a thread last night but couldn't find one

That unseen footage part was tough to watch. I am glad they haven't forgotten and are taking steps to hold trump accountable. Based off day 1 i don't see how trump doesn't end up behind bars and the republican party takes a hit as the midterms approach.

Excited to watch the remaining 6 hearings

  • Jun 10, 2022

Its weird how these guys talk like they had a phone call with trump instructing them to go to the capitol
Like bro your a locksmith in bumfuck Kansas you dont know this man

  • Jun 10, 2022

    they’re all guilty

    hearings concluded

The cops didn’t even shoot the BLM niggas burning buildings down, so can we stop this narrative?

There’s a big difference between riots targeting private property and literally storming the headquarters of the Amerikan state. And riots generally target the petite bourgeoisie anyway which is a class the bourgeoisie is happy to both use as a tool and as short term cannon fodder

The bourgeoisie allows riots to a degree because it releases some built up pressure while being relatively short lived and without clear plans, so it’s a better alternative than a full blown revolution.

And all that aside you’re ignoring the immense amount of repression rioters and progressive forces more generally have faced. It’s a lot of people that have gotten locked up on bullshit charges (I have first hand experience with this) or have been straight up “disappeared”. Look up where most of the Ferguson leaders are now

    Any source on this?

very late in the protests federal offices used unmarked vans to arrest people in Portland who were burning down properties, probably what he's referring to

    npr.org/2020/07/17/892277592/federal-officers-use-unmarked-vehicles-to-grab-protesters-in-portland

almost no one arrested in these vans was prosecuted long term hence why most of them are even available to be quoted within this article itself
