the songs definitely bleed into each other, not necessarily a bad thing tho
solid album
Yeah man she’s always had amazing transitions.
i like it better than dirty computer on first listen ngl
It’s an easier listen for sure. DC can get tedious. As much as i love it
This is just giving summer party kinda vibes which is what I expected based off of what she's said about it/the aesthetic.
Idk why people think she's going to drop another AA or Electric Lady at this point, you're setting yourself up for disappointment by doing that.

First listen, I don't think this is better than Dirty Computer either.
It is interesting how short this is. id like to know what the thought process was for the format
She’s flexing on people with Grace Jonesfeature talking french & not singing
plus she has son of Fela - Seun Kuti & his band on two tracks
nice project
Very enjoyable album. I like how the songs are sequenced and cohesively blend together.
Great summer album but comparing this to her old work is a disservice like someone else said

Yeah Archandroid and Electric Lady are all time albums.
really lovin the reggae vibes this album has going str8 riding in ur car in the summer music really solid album.
It's prly just not for me
Couple songs I like...Only Have Eyes 42 is pretty good...just doesn't feel as strong as her previous stuff including DC
During a routine memory-erasing operation, the New Order—the oppressive regime at the center of Dirty Computer’s “emotion picture”—comes across information about an underground resistance army. Sporting a kufi crown, Janelle Monáe’s alter ego Jane 57821 leads the rebels. They collude in the shadows, preparing for a coup d’état. Tragedy strikes when state officials seize Jane for neutralization. When all seems lost, her lover Zen breaks her out of the lab. The Age of Pleasure occurs in a world where these femme dissidents won the battle against totalitarianism. For many marginalized individuals, it’s difficult to dream of better worlds while mired in chaos and destitution. Janelle Monáe takes us to the promised land.
It's definitely cohesive but to the point where it all just kind of sounds the same...the slower tracks are where it's at for me but then there's the subject matter which just gets repetitive and boring after awhile lol the end game is just orgies and partying basically...bring the totalitarianism back if it results in more interesting music...cant see myself going back to it a whole lot unfortunately
Has any artists continued to make classics after going Hollywood?
Like .001% of artists have classics in the first place
But Timberlake made 20/20
