edit: actually listened again on headphones and phenomenal goes pretty hard tbh, I misjudged. I like the whole album, just wish it was longer.

yea idk just those first couple tracks just not my vibe, too basic for me. somebody said float sounded like some old Jidenna and I agree. but love the reggae vibe on the second half and how every track melts into the next

I agree completely album finds it’s footing after the first few tracks and i enjoy the reggae vibes it’s different for Janelle tbh and she fits it well

Water Slide might be my favorite joint

Great album, really fun and will be a soundtrack to my summer.

When critiquing music sometimes it's best to judge it on what the artist has tried to make, rather than something you wished they made. If she kept making Cindy mayseather music, imo, it would get played out.

really, I feel the opposite from Lipstick Lover on is where is when it gets good for me

So interesting, I feel like songs like Lipstick Lover and The Rush are way more “basic”, way more pop-centric when it comes to delivery and lyrics and progressions and everything. 🤷‍♂️ I think there’s just a sense of confidence that gets dulled around that point

i agree that they should make music for them, but it's a particular case where the cindi mayweather saga was left visibly unfinished and in terms of the universe left a lot of open ended questions. they were the one that pitched it as a 7-part story, so it should have a conclusion sooner or later

Like...if the end of totalitarianism is just bisexual orgies over reggae music I kinda want the totalitarianism back jk as long as she's making the music she wants to make and it's not being forced onto her then I'm gonna chalk it up this project just not being for me and hope the next one connects with me a bit more...I do think it gets better in the 2nd half but still too many interludes in between songs that already short as f*** lol

I wish it was about 15 minutes longer but it's a solid album. I think people are still hoping another ArchAndroid or Electric Lady, but that Janelle is LONG gone. Lol
