WHILE UK AND US, WERE MORE AGGRESSIVE WITH THEIR APPROACH, JAPAN REALLY PUSHED SYTHPOP TO ITS MELODIC LIMITS.

Let's discuss i want to hear your opinions

    My favorites

    真 鍋 ち え みChiemi Manabe - Mysterious Girl

A wild ride of synthpop heaven, glitzy juicy production that will fulfill your unknown sythpop fantasies.
There are no duds here, period and I think the production is by haruomi hosono.

One of favorites, this is a highkey bop.

山口美央子 Mioko Yamaguchi - 月姫 (Tsukihime)

This is artpop, the emphasis on Art is important, pop.
This was one of my favorites when I started checking out 80s jpop. An immediate killer, from a musician who practically never missed. More on the ambient side of things but the weird pop sensibilities are still there.

    My favorite

    Rajie - Espresso

This album is such an easy nice listen but apparently it's a sad album (maybe I'm wrong and I don't speak Japanese)
But you can feel it. Its the first of its kind that came from that era(imo) with reverb driving the sound of the album and taking the experience into so many interesting turns.

My favorite (one of my favorite songs of all time)

    藤村美樹 Miki Fujimura - 夢・恋・人

A mixed bag of flavor. In different colors and different tastes. So many different layers, it isn't avant garde innovative in any way but it really plays with elements that aren't explored in sythpop. Plus miki's voice is amazing.

    Full album

    My favorite, sounds like warmth.

    Kikuchi Momoko - adventure

This is the equivalent of pure relaxation. Beautiful melodies with a sleepy quality to it but make pop. Its strength is in its nuances. Don't sleep on it, it's f***ing fantastic.
    So many highlights.

That 808 doesn't have no business being that loud. Let the melodies flourish because they sound more interesting. Tbh

They always did the most melodically and they really were great at creating the image that works with the sound.
