It's every major city in the country, to be honest.
Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka.
Getting a bit better in the last week, but last time this happened it spiked back up pretty quick.

Def going next year, no matter what
Serious question how has the US turned around the COVID issue so quickly? Seems like we did a complete 180 comparison to other countries pre to post vaccine

No, but I'm in regular contact with many people in Japan, and regularly keep track of the situation (as I am waiting for the border situation to ease so that I can enter with my student visa)

Because we're mass vaccinating, Japan has one of the slowest vaccination rates of developed countries.

I don't think this summer will be possible, but we'll know more when the G7 meet next month to discuss international travel resuming.
Could be as early as the end of this year for vaccinated tourists, it depends on if the G7 can come to a collective agreement.

Kind of crazy considering the sluggish start. It’s unfortunate that little to no countries really perfected the handling of this from start to finish

we had more vaccines for individual cities than the entirety of canada like 3 months ago
just a gigantic supply to get to people compared to every other country

Yeah. A lot of countries with strong starts are fumbling vaccination (because they didn't think they needed them, I suppose).
I think Japan got extremely lucky at the start because wearing a mask when you're sick is already ingrained in the culture, but the people got sick of restrictions and quite frankly most of the population doesn't care. There's even a subset of people that think the virus is spreading because of foreigners (despite only a couple thousand non-olympics related foreigners being able to enter the country in the last 5 months).
They got sick of the lockdown like the rest of the world did (even though Japan didn't really have a lockdown, tbh, just asked bars/restaurants to close earlier) and just stopped caring lol

I figured it was a little outlandish to suggest that the USA is the only country in which a good population doesn’t take it serious

Yeah, it's actually really interesting to think about - USA got so much attention for all the crazy gatherings in places like Florida, but Japan had Golden Week just afew weeks ago with people travelling en masse and crowding the subways and not a word is said lol.
I suppose a lot of it has to do with outside image (America being the butt of a lot of jokes, for good reasons, a lot of things that happen here ARE s***show) of the country.

Yeah same, I’m literally Canadian but these mfs dropped the ball, feds & provincial. Can you imagine? Canada? F***ing up ANYTHING medically?
Doug Ford telling Trudeau to come outside & fight him, Trudeau telling him to basically eat a d***, Atlantic & western provinces lookin at the s*** show like👀
Just pleasantly surprised that Quebec didn’t find a way to blame their mishandling of the Covid situation on Muslims somehow

Honestly I think we fared pretty well. Not a lot of deaths and we're probably gonna reach herd immunity through vaccination before America.
getting scared for new york man...
Bouta get hot in the city again!
