American Gangster overrated
American Gangster is a top 4 Jay-Z album.
Watch your mouth, krispy kreme donuts.
Always felt Nas's music was more timeless but Hov's discography is pretty decent given how long it is.
We don’t believe you, you need more people
Roc-A-Fella students of the game, we passed the class
Vol 1 and 2 are actually good albums. Definitely a few bad tracks on both sure, but overall they are good.

Nas was always a better rapper jay just had better taste and surrounded himself with better artists
i don’t get kanye stans who hate hov lmao ye even said he could never do a verzuz with him cos he’s his boss

Nas is the better rapper, MC, artist, and just overall human being. It goes without saying.

“Just overall human being”
Some day maybe we will talk about how Jay and Elliott Wilson launched a campaign to rewrite history regarding Hov’s catalogue and it actually worked
Then why was he having success when he was fresh out?

i dont hate Hov at all, im just saying his discography is super overrated, like yeah he has classics but most his albums got too much filler. Plus Ye would wipe Jay in a verzuz

One of the many downsides of stan culture. People observing the relationship between two celebrities through media & the few words they speak about each other and then they feel compelled to villainize one person or the other based on that because it's all so simple! Simply disgusting.
Then why was he having success when he was fresh out?
Huh? I’m not talking about success I’m talking about how rap fans rate the albums and their legacy pretty much

its so weird there's kanye stans that deadass DESPISE jay z and beyonce ... for being rich like wtf

Success and legacy go hand in hand. And if you think I’m talking numbers, I don’t mean success in that regard. Im talkin reception, but I guess we’re thinking bout the same thing
His discography could be argued hit and miss, but he has 3 undeniable classics and 2 arguable ones, how many other artists can boast that? Also volume 1 and 2 are really good albums. His only solo trash is BP3 and MCHG and they’re at least listenable to an extent
if Blueprint II was one disc it would be harder than Prime Lisa Anne giving you dome on a park bench
Honestly it’s really annoying how much value people put into discography. Like yeah I get it on one hand but on the other like nobody is dropping perfect albums every single output. Sometimes just dropping a “good” album is fine. You put out essential albums to your genre, have real impact on your culture, your peers respect you and your legacy, who tf cares if someone on the internet calls one of your albums a 6/10
