    "stop stanning"

    "stop d***riding"

feels like I'm talking to children sometimes

  • Jun 7, 2024

Jay being Jay aside I’d rather these kids get a quality education than not. so, good for them

obv there’s still core issues with public school funding and under resourced places that this doesn’t address at all

And it shouldn’t be up to billionaires whim whether a child can get a quality funded education

black kids dont need private schools you jabroni. they need an education system thats not poisoning them through environmental racism, for one.

Why can't two things be true ??

and what the f*** does environmental racism have to do with this thread

Less funding for nonwhite schools and neighborhoods, environmental problems (bad water in those schools, mold etc, can be environmental racism) making residents and students sick etc s*** like that’s still an issue within the public school system, which i don’t believe is being addressed

The class element of the public vs private school divide is relevant in the greater conversation about this

For those children that will get an education they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise, this is good, and i’m glad they will have access

It doesn’t attack the root problems but it will alleviate the education barrier for however many children get these scholarships

There's no evidence of him doing anything

But if there is and he goes to jail, this campaign and initiative will still remain.

The intent and effort is great but at a certain point it’s like y’all know what actually needs to be done and exactly what needs to be funded. It’s annoying to constantly see them do everything but the right thing and we gotta shut up and take it or it looks ungrateful

This is a specific initiative for unprivileged Philly students to get a chance at higher education.

i dont understand why yall are hating

obviously giving public schools more resources is good. i don't know what kind of bureaucracy goes on behind the scenes in public schools but i imagine that it's more of a long term project to make them better whereas sending kids to private schools is more short term.

    Private schools

How about donating this money to a public school instead, which would impact more students for a longer period of time? But if course that wouldn’t fit the interests of Jay Z’s class

    F*** Jay Z

Jayz has given money to public schools in the past btw

it's not his or any billionaire's job to make sure these schools are properly funded

There's other ppl you can complain to for all that

    why

because it divides the quality of education along financial lines. if rich people can live in the suburbs, avoid taxation which would benefit inner city children, and then send their white ass kids to private schools in my city; how does this benefit black kids who dont even have the option? it is a de facto type of racial segregation, it dont matter how many black kids you give scholarships to.
