    it’s 50/50 and depends on what community you view the album from

    It’s Jay’s superstar album and was a huge deal for the culture because it was the first time a rap artist hit as many #1s as Beatles / Rolling Stones type artists . Jay was one of the only pure rappers getting top 10 billboard songs at the time too

    But the rap community mostly shunned the album for its inconsistent quality

    Kanye being hands on with Jay’s most successful post-retirement album does hold weight in his claim
