Harrison and Onah previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed drama “Luce,” which nabbed best male lead and best director nominations at the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

wasn't the biggest fan of Luce but Onah still showed a lot of skill as a filmmaker, his statement about this film is very promising

1996 film is on youtube, inspired the likes of Frank, King Krule, Mach-Hommy... directed by Julian Schnabel who was also a contemporary of Basquiat's... doubtful this can live up to that tbh but cautiously in

It’s funny, Jean Michel is my favorite artist of all time but I never had a desire to watch this film. It just always looked goofy to me lol. I prefer the Boom 4real & Radiant Child docs

No one’s gonna watch this if it ain’t on Netflix

It's 90s af and of course not entirely accurate/simplified telling (I mean it's a biopic not a documentary to act like it has to be a perfect copy of life would be weird) but to the knowledge I have of him still feels authentic enough and imo it's just a nice movie with a nice vibe.
