You don't get it. If someone like me says these people are satanists, you will look at me and pretend I'm wrong because they aren't literally sucking the devil's d*** they can't be what I claim.

Look at it deeper. These people are getting riled up about Kanye talking about God. Religion, conservatism, monogamy, raising a family etc, is now the counter culture. You think there was an ounce of bravery from Kendrick? What risk was Kendrick taking? He obliged to the message they endorse and tap danced his way to awards. I wish Kendrick would actually use his amazing gift to make an album like JIK.

Kanye is fighting this system from the inside, seeing everybody sell their soul for a dollar, a woman, a trophy, a position, and said ENOUGH. The man was losing his mind and his soul and now that he has found God and liberated his own mind they want to call him a coon, crazy, controlled, etc. Can you actually believe the nerve of people like TI to talk down on Ye?

None of these other black rappers/stars really give a s*** - they won't risk what they have to say what is unpopular. The s*** they care about is so fake they get Nike sponsorships for it or fake their own race hate attacks. They'd rather defend China. They didn't lose their title and livelihood the way Muhammad Ali did. They're not standing for s*** other than the status quo that keeps them rich and black people continuing to kill other black people because of the culture they propagate through their music.

Most of these top rappers half the time are rapping about the black struggle when they are worth millions and half of the other time are stunting about their wealth to collect cheques for promoting a fake and hollow lifestyle. The blind leading the blind.

no one slandering kendrick. top 5

    we slandering the bias

I would see your point if Kanye and Kendrick were making similar albums with differing messages and one was receiving more praise than the other.

But they don’t, they approach music in totally different ways. So I think to single out the message as the reason for lack of critical success without looking at anything else is unreasonable.

Mainstream critics were sucking Kendrick off when he made albums constantly reminding black people they're poor thugs that the white man is trying to get. They were sucking Jay Z off for supporting Obama purely because he was black. I mean, the scores prove it too. Jay Z, Beyonce, et al have kissed the ring, Kanye has stood up as the sacrificial lamb to take this onslaught of evil and weakness. Who gives a f*** about a review? The same people who give a f*** about a review to form their opinion are the same sleeping sheep who listen to CNN about Trump.

These people have been playing fans of the culture for ages. People are pissed Macklemore won but he won it because he played it better than Kendrick that year. Same lefty s***-sandwich, you just didn't like the taste that time. Kanye is trying to bring you to God's table.

This is a masterpiece you can sing along with your kids and that makes people realise that they are children of God and as a consequence born free. Kanye is a thorn in the eye of the culture now because he is the real deal and they are fakes. He is shoving their hypocrisy down their throats and simultaneously reeducating a generation to not worship false idols and a manufactured consumer culture that is destroying black people. Black culture, especially in America, needed this album. This is what a truly historic album is, not some lameass SJW bullshit that everybody already agrees with.

You people are sleep, wake up. These liberal a******s don't give a f*** about you, they just want to influence your perception so you never forget you're black, a slave and a n...

this is by far the realest post ive ever seen on any forum tbh.

Where in any of these reviews are critics saying their objection to this album is specifically that it’s religious? If anything the criticism is that it’s superficial. Why can’t it just be that this album sucks? Why does there have to be this straw man that it’s some shadowy figure working behind the scenes to ruin Kanye for speaking out against the institution?

You haven’t even specified why Kendrick and Kanye’s situation is different. Several of Kendrick’s songs are about anti consumerism and putting your faith in God and not material things. The only difference is that in Kanye’s own words is that he says s*** just to provoke people. How brave of him to support Trump just based off of the idea that it’s contrarian, or the wrong answer. Give me a break. Isn’t Jesus Is King the album where he defends himself charging ridiculous prices for his clothes because he wants to maintain his current quality of life? How is that improving the culture?

But at the end of the day, none of this s*** matters. Are we discussing music, or are we discussing theology? For you to dismiss critics giving this lukewarm reviews because you think it’s a war on free thinking is completely disrespectful to the art of music. Letting Kanye slide on a half assed record because the intention of it’s good is bullshit and disrespectful to the artform.

    Yeezus is a gospel album

It all makes sense, if it doesn't to you then you can ask a question if you're really after the truth instead of simply making a claim and not exemplifying where the inconsistencies are.

The divide in America stems exactly from this lack of communication. Anyone saying something you don't agree with isn't stupid, a racist, a sexist, etc. (not saying you are making this claim but that the opponents of Kanye routinely engage in these kinds of tactics to shut down real issues concerning people.)

If I have a go at other artists it is because they are slaughtering the man directly and indirectly for having the gumption to do something they can't/won't. As if the meaning in the album itself wasn't enough, this is another illustration of what Jesus went through - that even if you are the ultimate moral man trying to do the ultimate moral good, the better you do the more you remind those around you of their failures and they will hate you for it...enough to put you on a cross.

Are we really going to pretend critics that uniformly called Kanye a genius are now saying he is making worse music than Lil Durk? If we are, I have some magic beans to sell you.

Kendrick is different because he risked nothing. He isn't overly religious and the main themes of his album are all social justice related with the arguments slanting almost entirely to one side of the political spectrum.

If you think this is a half assed record I am not sure what to tell you. You must think it is an accident that Kanye became famous or that he suddenly forgot to learn how to make music. They're giving Pulitzer prizes for DAMN., Nobel Prizes to Obama and telling you Kanye is crazy. The number of hoops people have to jump instead of just being honest with themselves is crazy.

These people simply don't like Kanye because of his politics. The two coastal cities of America house most of these hipster doofus Arts students who wear their p****-hats as they bash away on their keyboard as if they have any inkling what it takes to make music at Kanye's level.

Different expectations for different kinds of albums. I don't know what else to tell you lol. I don't disagree that some critics have a predisposed biased towards Kanye because of his comments, but to make these long ass posts about how all journalists are mental slaves because they don't like this rushed album seems hypocritical to me.

What do you mean he risked nothing? So the only qualifier in this is that Kanye said slavery was a choice and that he supports Trump. So is this actually about Jesus is King, or is this about Kanye's persona? And I would say his albums are overtly religious, but there's symbolism and allusions in it, hence why critics praise it but criticize Kanye's album for being superficial. Almost like there is consistency in the criticism. And you clearly don't remember when To Pimp A Butterfly was coming out. Kendrick got attacked by the BLM movement because he was saying that black people needed to fix themselves first before blaming others. I understand there's differences between the two's music, but it really seems the elephant in the room is that one supports Trump and the other doesn't.

It is a half assed record. I could give you objective information that proves why it is. The mixing is horrendous, there's obscene clipping on almost every song, the levels of each song varies like crazy. Kanye's vocals are so compressed in some songs it sounds like he recorded it on an iPhone. They didn't properly line up certain tracks on songs so they're off-rhythm. Someone forgot to properly trim off the end of kanye's humming on Use this Gospel so you can still hear a click at the end of the take. These are amateur mistakes that are a result of an album being mixed the night before it was released. If you say any of this is intentional, I got some magic beans to sell you lol. Stop giving Kanye a pass on this just because he's Kanye and his ideologies line up with your own. I'm talking about the music!
