Mainstream critics were sucking Kendrick off when he made albums constantly reminding black people they're poor thugs that the white man is trying to get. They were sucking Jay Z off for supporting Obama purely because he was black. I mean, the scores prove it too. Jay Z, Beyonce, et al have kissed the ring, Kanye has stood up as the sacrificial lamb to take this onslaught of evil and weakness. Who gives a f*** about a review? The same people who give a f*** about a review to form their opinion are the same sleeping sheep who listen to CNN about Trump.

These people have been playing fans of the culture for ages. People are pissed Macklemore won but he won it because he played it better than Kendrick that year. Same lefty s***-sandwich, you just didn't like the taste that time. Kanye is trying to bring you to God's table.

This is a masterpiece you can sing along with your kids and that makes people realise that they are children of God and as a consequence born free. Kanye is a thorn in the eye of the culture now because he is the real deal and they are fakes. He is shoving their hypocrisy down their throats and simultaneously reeducating a generation to not worship false idols and a manufactured consumer culture that is destroying black people. Black culture, especially in America, needed this album. This is what a truly historic album is, not some lameass SJW bullshit that everybody already agrees with.

You people are sleep, wake up. These liberal a******s don't give a f*** about you, they just want to influence your perception so you never forget you're black, a slave and a n...

hahaha imagine getting this worked up over an album that kanye literally procrastinated to finish until the night before. kendrick's albums all have heavy religious themes on them too, so what's your explanation for the dichotomy on that.

kendricks albums never provide guidance, just perspective. the issues never resolve.

this album offers a solution, a path towards salvation. thats the difference

good kid maad city's resolution is Kendrick and his friends accepting Jesus Christ as their lord and savior in order to save their spiraling lives.

The album ends with a solution.

Don't get how Jesus is King did worse than Ye, given all the Trump and TMZ things that critics were writing about then.

People must really hate this album

This isn't about religion given how much critics love Jesus Walks, which is essentially a Christian Hip-Hop song

But I do think before they tried to understand Kanye rather than just instantly mocking him, which is what they seem to do post-Trump. Think back to Yeezus when a lot of his base and hip hop were rejecting the album but most critics were giving it AOTY,

I feel like if he made Yeezus now they'd just trash it. I think Yeezus is much better than JiK but tbh, if Trump and the Ye era had never happened and JiK/Sunday Service happened in 2018, they probably would have praised this even if it didn't deserve it

I can't stand Trump so agree with them on that stuff, but there's no way this album gets reviewed like that pre-2018

Fair enough. I felt that way when Ye came out last year and everyone was s***ting on it. A lot of critics seemed to just be attacking it because of Kanye's MAGA support. But in this case I legitimately think this album is garbage, so I can't fault the critics too much for not feeling it lol.

I thought the reviews of Ye were unfair but the scores weren't.

Like I think Ye is about a 6 at best but the reviews themselves were written like they were scoring him on his political views

I'm happy to get JiK music from Kanye, it's not as good as Pablo, but considering how far he's into his career it's a return to form. But that being said, the Ye fan in me is rooting for him to come back with an album that would be undeniable. But tbh, I don't know if he even has it in him or if people would even be able to get past their problems with him or what it would even sound like in 2019. When he used to annoy his base in post-MBDTF eras it would be other stupid things but now he's made it about politics, slavery, religion, race etc. so it would take a lot for him to be as well-loved as he was a few years ago. And people thought he was hated then lmfao

what songs on Ye were you not feeling? tbh i feel like JIK isn't that sonically different.

It's not that sonically different and it's definitely not innovative but within it's discography it's still unique. The closest album it's too in his discog is probably TCD (Jesus Walks, I'll Fly Away, Two Words) and that's still nothing like this.

I like parts of most songs but feel like a lot of other things ruin most of them. I like Ghost Town, Wouldn't Leave and Violent Crimes. All Mine grew on me as a guilty pleasure but it's still got to be his worst single, unless you count the NYE version of Facts.

You don't get it. If someone like me says these people are satanists, you will look at me and pretend I'm wrong because they aren't literally sucking the devil's d*** they can't be what I claim.

Look at it deeper. These people are getting riled up about Kanye talking about God. Religion, conservatism, monogamy, raising a family etc, is now the counter culture. You think there was an ounce of bravery from Kendrick? What risk was Kendrick taking? He obliged to the message they endorse and tap danced his way to awards. I wish Kendrick would actually use his amazing gift to make an album like JIK.

Kanye is fighting this system from the inside, seeing everybody sell their soul for a dollar, a woman, a trophy, a position, and said ENOUGH. The man was losing his mind and his soul and now that he has found God and liberated his own mind they want to call him a coon, crazy, controlled, etc. Can you actually believe the nerve of people like TI to talk down on Ye?

None of these other black rappers/stars really give a s*** - they won't risk what they have to say what is unpopular. The s*** they care about is so fake they get Nike sponsorships for it or fake their own race hate attacks. They'd rather defend China. They didn't lose their title and livelihood the way Muhammad Ali did. They're not standing for s*** other than the status quo that keeps them rich and black people continuing to kill other black people because of the culture they propagate through their music.

Most of these top rappers half the time are rapping about the black struggle when they are worth millions and half of the other time are stunting about their wealth to collect cheques for promoting a fake and hollow lifestyle. The blind leading the blind.
