Carter was the most reliable international ally of tinpot Indonesian dictator Suharto, not only fully arming his military to carry out horrible atrocities against his own people but fully supported the invasion and genocide of the Timorese, at the time the worst genocide relative to overall population since the Holocaust
Goddamn

I’m not apathetic about it, I’m glad he died
its funny that the barometer for american presidents being overall good is like yeah he was one of the better ones on affordable housing gays palestine being against segregation being for civil rights but he may have supported and facilitated one of the worst genocides ever per capita

hard to say he was ever really for palestine since in his tenure as president he did absolutely nothing to support our nation's liberation struggle, the camp david accords were one of the triumphant victories of zionism
his dumb book he wrote later didn't undo even a sliver of the damage

Absolutely but in what is kinda exemplified by him as a figure in general, he’s probably as good as an american president has ever gotten on the issue, which is not that good
Unless I’m blanking on some undeniably principled and based older ones (on Israel specifically not based in general)
He also called it apartheid too which I’ll always rate the late fella for. If it was up to me he’d get Sundays off the torture rack in hell for that one
sis, if you’re reading this, you gotta quit being so aggressive, even when your takes are right
