Joey always wanted mainstream success and clout. He's been trying to do what Kendrick and Cole did and blend being lyrical with making bangers over modern sounding beats for a min now. Not everybody can pull that off tho

I was in 8th grade when it came out and I bought the censored version by accident on itunes bc i didnt have internet so i had to get money to buy albums i wanted, i bumped that s*** everyday censored and all. Wasnt even a big fan of Joey at the time honestly that album was just super dope to me.

I miss that era bc every album in my collection was a personal decision, bc i had no computer or wifi monday-friday at my moms. My collection was B4.DA.$, IDLSIDGO, TPAB, Cherry Bomb, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late & Rodeo

Bro yes 😭 the scarcity legit made a huge difference. I had a Nano when i first started really getting into music on my own and i remember on tuesdays when a new song or project would release, i’d be up in the morning rushing right before school combing through my ipod storage on itunes to find one to remove to put the new one on and hope it would upload in time. It made everything way more valuable and you learned to appreciate everything fully. When i see people now say they’ll go through an album first listen and just save whatever songs they liked and move on im like smh back in my day ..

Man fr buying an album or even going out your way to download it gave me way more incentive to really dive into the album deeply and i feel like it gave the artist more incentives to care about crafting the album

Rapping about rapping is almost pointless. Nothing wrong with being braggadocios Joey is just boring and unrealistic with his talent level, he’s the ruler of what exactly?

We need to encourage people to actually rap. I don’t care if it’s just bragging, That’s literally always been part of hip hop

Funny thing is the nigga Drake for example would rap circles around this nigga in terms of bars and double entendres but his reputation so trash that it completely compromises his aura

I fw the aura of this but I wanna hear somebody doing it at a high skill level from NYC (Not upstate)

I do think it was kinda disrespectful how the East all the sudden were claiming Joey Badass as the KING OF NY on 2000 after years of ignoring and discrediting him.
