"linear plot" - okay, yeah, that's the verbiage I was going for but failed to think of, lol.

But yeah, I agree that it would be dull if every season had such a linear plot. I think with Golden Wind it was more fitting due to the nature of the plot and the characters, which made it felt like a non-stop rollercoaster.

Stardust Crusaders technically had a linear plot, but there was a lot of fluff so it didn't feel as effective.
