Ban musicals tbh
musicals should be their own category, they shouldn't be called movies
also musicals suck
Never cared for musicals and was so worried about that going into this movie…I hated the thought of this being a musical
But the musical parts weren’t that bad at all imo
The visuals were beautiful during those scenes too so maybe that helped
Alright I get not liking this but hating musicals overall
imagine hating la la land
using this movie to further the agenda against musicals is dumb. this is just a horrible example of one and if you can't tell the difference between a good musical and a bad musical then maybe you should stop watching movies or i'll f***ing kill you.

They got cats and now this. Probably wicked too tbh. Musical haters are winning
When i heard about joker being a musical i was really hoping he’d take tips from this absolute classic.
I quite enjoy musicals. Maybe I'm biased because I live in the tri state and love going to see musicals on Broadway.
So seeing slander for musicals itt is making me feel

Wicked might have a shot tbh
I'm more worried about it being stretched into 2 movies when the first one is already 5 minutes longer than the stage musical itself
I'm honestly starting to think Part 2 is going to be an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz in the continuity of Wicked
Crine at how WB basically pulled this same trick with Joker with Wonka last year by tricking folks who don't like musicals into watching by trying to make it seem like it wasn't a musical.

Difference is Wonka was good
But this is something studios have been doing for quite some time now lmao
There's Wonka, the Mean Girls remake from this year had barely any semblance of the musical aspects in the marketing even though it was an adaptation of the musical, Wicked's marketing isn't showing any of the musical aspect, Mufasa isn't showing any of the musical aspects it's definitely going to have. So the real question is if Hollywood is so afraid to market a musical, why the f*** make them in the first place?
how much we thinkin this makin?

Money laundering at its finest

Emilia Perez out next month
Also I saw the movie last night so I might as well give my thoughts.
Throughout this movie I can feel Phillips is annoyed at the reactions from the first movie both positive and negative.
Cinematography is gorgeous but the movie is so miserable and dour it almost feels like a parody at points beating the audience over the head over and over again how much Arthur's life sucks.
All the musical numbers pretty much blend together although Gaga is obviously a fantastic singer and performer
Phoenix and Gaga do their best to elevate a paper thin story and script into something enjoyable but their efforts are futile. Solid performances from both of them though.
Movie is way too long and could have been cut by twenty to thirty minutes.
Felt like a two and a half hour middle finger to the very audience that loved the first one which is ironically the most Joker thing ever lol.
They still gonna print some money on this, overseas supposed to be close to $85 mill this weekend

For sure, its in china i believe
So basically the made for TV movie and it's influence on Lee is a commentary of the influence the movie had irl on some people. This includes the split reaction especially in the court scene where Zazie's character talked about it being s\*\*\*ty but Lee, who loves Joker, reassures him that it was good. It's a commentary on the obsession some people took with the movie as well as the overall split reaction.
It’s also a commentary on people’s obsession with true crime media in general

It's also crazy timing how this came out right around the same time as the Menedez Brothers series on Netflix
Alright I get not liking this but hating musicals overall
This
I can't recall last time I watched a musical but I'm not gonna be pissed off because of a genre of a movie
ngl i can see why people hate the movie but it has a clear message in it that comes to fruition near the end of the film and if you understand it, it's pretty f***ing deep. good performances from joaquin, and gaga, she was as amazing as he was, even if criminally under utilised. movie was shot well and made well in general, the musical aspect was the weakest parts of the movie, but there are times when it hits appropriately, most times it feels like it kills all momentum the film is building. again, dont understand why they didn't utilise gaga more for the musical sections particularly. joaquin isn't a good singer.
