I don't even care for them that much (tho I did enjoy this one), but the discourse surrounding them feels in such uniquely bad faith

I liked how they used the music to show Arthur’s inner monologue/thoughts

I feel this is if martin scorsese had made sequel to Taxi Driver right after Taxi Driver, and made Travis a human who regretted his actions from the first movie. Human and sad.

Then the people who saw Travis as a hero would be pissed, just like it is happening with Joker

I don’t get why people who liked the first movie don’t like this one.
The only thing I didn’t like was the SPOILER the execution of the ending.
You knew it was coming before it happened and a bit on noose( a psychopath does him like he did Maury).

U might need ur right brain to help too if u cant see why people have issues with this mess of a movie.

Limiting the movie to him just being in jail and the courtroom makes this movie fairly boring

The musical aspects didn’t really elevate or help the movie at all. Seemed half assed and tacked on even though it had potential. I don’t even think this movie should be able to be considered a musical. I’m not saying they’re bad, They were just fine. but didn’t add any points. they’re just there

I think Harley didn’t get much character development. Squandered an opportunity to let Gaga shine further imo.

Seemed like this movie was just beating the hell out of arthur and showing just how miserable his life was with no strong message being given other than he was reluctant to be the symbol but i also think this idea of a ‘message to the fans of the first movie” is a fat cope for the fact this s*** was directionless squandering of the stars talents.

S*** just felt like nothing even happens. It was just a poorly assembled depressing slog aftermath of the first movie. Useless.

Shows glimpses of potential in some parts and Gaga + Phoenix had good acting in it but that’s not enough to make up for a bad nothingscript that can’t articulate any type of actual message other than “This persona wasn’t real” even though he chose to call himself that in the first one and do all that s***

10/10 might have been an exaggeration sure i do agree quinn character wasnt fleshed. out as much as i would have liked but i liked how auteur and risky the movie was cool 8/10

I liked the songs. But I feel like they could’ve did a lot more with the musical side of things and developed the connections more. Which is why when people said “too much music” i thought that was dumb because i felt like it was only sprinkled throughout.

There’s better worded takes on the music ITT than mine though

I do think there’s some creative parts of this movie but i totality it doesn’t add up to something i think is all that good.
