Get Out was better than Us for me but it felt too much like an SNL sketch rather than a real movie tbh. Us just felt like a lazy John Carpenter imitation.
I def think hes capable of better than Nope (suffers from him trying to imitate great filmmakers again but in this case its him trying to imitate Shyamalan and Spielberg) but its also the first time I feel I've seen a real semblance of his style starting to emerge. Hoping he continues to build off that.
Absolutely, Us suffers from diminishing returns with each watch or the more you think about. The exposition dump at the end is the nail in the coffin. It would’ve been a better film had less been explained.
You’re right about M. Night and Spielberg, which is why I’m really curious about what comes next from him as it’ll cement my opinion on him as a filmmaker. With 3 movies in he should find his voice/style.

you're definitely right about that. I don't know if this is going to be an opus-tier work from him but I would like to see him continue to push his style and find his voice. He's certainly got all the resources to do it now. I definitely am rooting for him especially since he is a proponent of 70mm IMAX and we need more successful filmmakers than just Nolan and Tarantino out there being film proponents.

I just looked up the budget/box office for Nope and it didn't do as well when compared to his other films AND it cost more (which I'm sure a good chunk was bc of shooting in IMAX + having to shoot twice during the night scenes to overlap the two).
But maybe it's just the post-COVID box office world we live in now and/or maybe it was because Nope seemed more sci-fi than horror?
So hopefully that doesn't deter him from going big/unique (love the way the night scenes were shot for example). He could probably "flop" a few times before being forced to pull a Shyamalan and scaling back, going back to his roots, lol.
Do we have any idea what his new one will be about? Any bit of info?
No info at all, but I think it’s really interesting that he chose Christmas as the release date. I feel like Peele chose that specific day for a reason
Definitely can’t wait to start getting some info
I’ve been thinking of what actors I’d like to see in this movie…
Obviously he’ll probably bring back Kaluuya but not sure he’ll be the main star in this one
Tbh I’d wanna see anyone from the Atlanta cast in this movie. It would be dope to have Donald, Lakeith, Brian Tyree, or Zazie in this.
Also Ayo Edebiri, Tyler James Williams, or John Boyega

need Kiki Layne in this
she was frightening in Don’t Worry Darling with the little screen time she had that was cut

Damn I had no idea that she was supposed to have a lot more screen time
Nope is such a fascinating movie. It’s so incredibly dense and layered
I also love how Peele was simultaneously able to make a big budget blockbuster horror film, while also being able to make a movie that’s packed full of symbolism and subtle storytelling
You can either sit back and just enjoy it as a monster movie, or you can dissect it frame by frame
his best movie probably

her and her scene partners scenes were heavily cut
but they ended up together irl so it’s cute and worked out

Will never understand NOPE hate. He nailed the grounded nature with Spielbergian spectacle

Well that’s a nice happy ending
Oh ffs.
Eggars nosferatu price just went up tho
Probably SAG/WGA strikes messed this one up.
I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but I personally really love all of Peeles movies.
That pic of Willem Dafoe in Nosferatu scared him
