To me, the movie is, in a lot of ways, the capitalist in William O’Neal and the socialist in Fred Hampton…and the coward in William O’Neal and the revolutionary in Fred Hampton,” he stated. “I try to attach judgment to both of those ideologies but most people fall somewhere in between. You want to make a movie where the audience watches it and walks away questioning ‘Where do I fall between those two?'”
Just based off this quote alone I know this film will be centrist garbage. We don't need a fred hampton movie arguing for capitalism
Is that what you really took away from the quote?
After viewing the trailer, I don't believe the movie is about a literal socialist vs. capitalist argument. More so, it seems to be highlighting one of the the major problems with capitalism....selfishness and focus on the individual instead of the collective. William O'neal's decision to work for the Feds and further his well-being in order to not being blackmailed at the expense of his fellow brothers and sisters seems to be the central plot here. How is that an argument for capitalism? Especially since we all know what happened to William O'neal.

What I'm saying is I don't think their should be any ambiguity on who's side to take when fred was murdered by cops while he was sleeping and other dude got protection from the state. Clearly one ideology served a purpose that helped the state and one didn't.
But whatever the movie will come out and prolly get killed and we'll find out then
Ain't Hollywood find a way to make a harriet movie that still made black people somewhat the villain? Why yall playing devils advocate for them?

Highly doubt there will be any ambiguity. I do believe in creating in-depth characters and obviously William's character will not be some one-dimensional snitch. You empathize, not sympathize. The director literally called that man a coward...why would you expect the movie to side with 'Judas', lol?

Because the man who wrote Remember The Titans and Glory Road has nothing to do with this movie.
Looks dope

You say that like the film wasn't co-written and directed by Kasi Lemmons.

I know it was. It's just that dude is known for being involved in writing noncontroversial and safe movies involving race. And Harriet was no different.
This looks hard
Am I tripping or did kaluuya's british accent slip out a lil near the end of the opening line
Idk but I found it funny thinking of him being British and playing this role lol it’s all good tho I still fw DK
"I will die for the people because I live for the people, I live for the people because I love the people"
I know who my GOAT is about time they gave Fred some action
And it's gonna be building sympathy for the rat, probably in
the end gonna make him look like he did what was best
I love Fred but the "rat" wasn't a rat because he wasn't a black panther and didn't want to be.
Nigga he sound just like Fred
We need the all the source materials he used to prepare for the role, it can't just be youtube clips.
Lol if you can be set back by a movie you were never on.

Last year I had to write a essay from the perspective of a historical figure and I chose Fred. I wrote as if he was an angel reminiscing on everything. My school has this online library of these documents u can find and it was so many documents I found on him. Very interesting stuff
film bouta start that convo of uk niggas taking black american roles
Lol fr
that trailer is cut so f***ing well but the fact that it’s WB and the film is more focused on the white FBI informant is just
It's the trailer bro
I'm going based off the trailer and it doesn't look good. You could be right but I highly doubt it, as mentioned look who's backing the film.
Lol so who you want to distribute the film then. They got a movie done and bigger entity to distribute for the mass and you tryna make it something it's not
Bullshit. This is history that needs to heard. Foh

you really think an entertainment conglomerate like WB would do justice to this story?
My God, y'all complaining ass niggas are annoying. Movie isn't even out, but already calling it an "action movie" based off a trailer and saying what's going to happen.
The director/writer was involved in directing/writing Random Acts Of Flyness. A show that had no problems showcasing radical black thought and going after white people.
The talent behind it doesn't even warrant such hostility but type away.
Oh no, Ryan Coogler is involved
He's definitely trying to make up for all that CIA love in Black Panther
wdym?
Trailer for a movie. They'll show everything to make you wanna watch. Also the informant played a role in his death which is what the movie is leaning towards
