Crazy to think the entire US electric grid can be taken down literally at any moment. Also every .com domain on earth can be taken down all at once too. It’s coming it’s just a matter of when

I fear for the day the powergrid gets seriously compromised and causes blackouts for weeks/months across the nation.

S*** gonna turn into Fallout without the rads.

With the way s*** looks, would not be surprised if this happened in our lifetimes. That's why I hope everyone has an old fashioned AM/FM radio and plenty of batteries.

    Haha get f***ed

  • I was driving to work this morning and the gas prices are ridiculous and that’s if they have any gas.

This what happens when you’re a country that doesn’t invest in the future and it’s infrastructure and don’t put money where it should be going.

Absolutely f***in ridiculous, the United States needs a whole rehaul of its cybersecurity, basically all aspects and stop slapping little bandaids on

  • This is bad no doubt but some piece of s*** fed on NPR was saying “this is comparable to 9/11” like b**** what 3000 people lost their lives in that it’s so disrespectful to compare the two

A lot of the electrical distribution switching on the transmission lines are still physically being done. From what I know a lot of SCADA systems are only used for monitoring at this point with the look towards automation. The generation stations are the biggest threat. If someone did ever attack the grid it would only effect it regionally due to the fact on how the grid is segmented.

Companies who provide natural resources to the public need to start budgeting for, and making cybersecurity a top priority. It’s not the 1980s anymore.

This is especially embarrassing for an industry which is likely on its way out over the next 50 years.

It literally doesn't matter how much you spend when Bob at his desk clicks every f***ing attachment and link he gets in an email.

It also doesn't help when the company refuses to punish problem users. It also doesn't help when those problem users are management.

  • May 12, 2021

crazy. got a few friends down there. s***s gotta suck

  • May 12, 2021

Even though this could happen in any industry even for electric cars this is why we are 50 years behind on investing in renewable energy

s***s not easy and they don’t just trust anyone with those jobs. you’re essentially hiring a hacker like the people who did this attack in the first place

You have to invest in smarter people, or invest in proper training to keep Bob from being a dumbass.

I’m not trying to say it’s easy, but I’m betting a lot of these companies still aren’t taking these type threats seriously.

  • May 12, 2021

I’m in NC, thankfully was able to get some gas yesterday morning. Gonna be conserving that tank lmao.
