Totally agree, especially on Jogo. What he said to Gojo in their first fight - "Humans these days ... don't live in truth - real strength and the truth will be spread through death" & how he went about executing this ideal - strikes me as a core theme of the series. I take the way Gege treats death, including Nobara's, as a kind of Hagakure. Mahito's speech to Yuji after the black flash still resonates years later for this reason.

I like so much about jjk man it’s def the weekly I’m most excited to check on every week. Still Gege is kinda an annoying writer in places and the fans can’t take any criticism. A part of reacting is criticism! It reminds me of reading bleach near the end of its run. Jjk not nearly as out of control but damn there is some inconsistency and narrative convenience people don’t wanna admit.

I be calling it mediocre but it’s a consummate 8.5 if I’m not hating. I think the anime will mitigate some annoyances in the manga. Didn’t really fix Nobara this week but there’s not you can finesse there. Plus maybe that story not over.

And this is in my top 5 most favorite mangas of all time right now but I rate it a 8.5-9 too. It needs to land the ending if I’m going to give it the 9 to 9.5 I want to give it. Depending on how that goes could make it just be 8 or even a 7.5 or so, but still remains one of the most entertaining mangas I read. And I’m sure anyone in this thread will say it’s not perfect. Barely any manga is.

Oh yea the anime has definitely made some things better for me especially with this arc which i already liked in the manga. The long ass explanations being gone and expanding on things like jogos fight with sukuna helps so much. It does make me look forward to parts i didn't really care about in the manga like Kashimo getting completely folded by sukuna or makis fight with the zenins

Authors could basically skip to the end of every fight and for the plot it would be the same. If Luffy beats kaido in 2-3 chapters or 30 doesnt really matter so I personally see fighting (if done well) always as something more character driven.

Good authors use fights to show growth, hardship and explain the motivation of the characters and their clashing ideologies. I would for sure count JJK to one of these stories that do it well.

To me the plot is everything about the sealing of Gojo, Kenjakus and sukunas plot etc. so yeah I dont think JJK has alot of plot per se. We can agree to disagree tho its fine
