I caught up with the manga for this reason. Didn’t dare let the algorithm know I was into jjk. The spoilers ever since have been crazy.

How exactly does the whole concept of sorcerers turning into curses work? I can't recall if it got explained in the anime and I just don't remember

Like for example Naoya returning as a cursed monster. He was killed by Maki's mom and his like evil s\*\*\*stain energy turns him into a curse in death? He still retains all of his human memories, but now is just on the other side? Or Sukuna who was a human at one point and then became a OP ass king of curses? What is it that makes them change.

Also a culling games related question How are all these old ass sorcerers reincarnated exactly? It sounds like some of them have done this more than once too? Kenjaku from what I can understand seemed to somehow place their souls(?) in regular bodies or bodies that at least had cursed energy? Is that just how that works or are they in their old bodies of the past?

He was killed with no cursed energy or cursed tool

    Its a couple relating concepts:

    • Curses are born from particular negative emotions created by people.
    • Jogo, Hanami or Mahito were born out of basically the accumulated negative emotions coming from concepts forests, earth, humans, water etc.
    • Every person besides Toji has cursed energy it is just that sorcerers are able to store that energy.
    • When a person dies with extremely strong emotions towards for example revenge, you get a single curse coming out of one so strong emotion it has a sense of self and even has some memories of its past called a vengeful spirit.

So basically in the case of a sorcerer dying without a cursed tool or from a Cursed technique which would exorcise them, you get a vengeful spirit that has tons of Cursed energy combined with the hatred of the single sorcerer. One thing we do not know tho is that Naoya was actually still naoya or wether it was just basically leftovers of the emotions in the form of a newborn curse

Simply put, if your death has been cursed your spirit is corrupted and returned to what is classified as a “vengeful cursed spirit” like Rika for example. The chances of that is even higher for sorcerers evidenced by Nanami (the goat) not wanting to curse Yuji in his last moments.

Sukuna is powerful because of his “Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirit” classification where a cursed spirit is manifested from the cumulative fear of the masses. In this case he's known for the legend of the “Imaginary Demon God” with two faces and four arms.

I need to reread the current arc cuz atm they’re just yapping to me.

Idk if its a hot take but i loved gojo getting killed offscreen# its perfect for his character, the story and the author's writing. Im salty !#my goat was killed in big part because sukuna used megumi's ten shadows, but he had to go out one way or another, hes too strong, so if anyone had to do it its the king of curses.
Cant wait to see this animated, just imagining gojo vs toji and sukuna vs mahoraga level sakuga for this fight

the choice to handle sukana's killing blow off screen was really strange. the chapter before ends with gojo dropping his purple nuke, and the last panel proclaiming he won.

then the next chapter starts with him already dead, what?

Still feels a bit impotent to me. I understand as a twist but didn’t land super well as a narrative choice but som like it so différent strokes ig.

    Thoughts?

If Higuruma survives this (he's not) with only 2 months from his cursed energy awakening, give him a year and he's untouchable

I have more thoughts but I'm tired and that's my biggest takeaway thus far

So many people complain about the offscreening, but that's the least concerning thing about the chapter, imo. I don't like how Nanami (and even Haibara) descharacterize Gojo. Yeah, Nanami has always been an a\*\*\*\*\*\* to him, but, no, Gojo did NOT solely use jujutsu to satisfy himself. But the chapter kind of reinforces this false idea, for some reason. Even having Geto agree with them? Idk, that part always bothered me

It's so funny seeing how some people have turned on JJK sharply after the Gojo stuff. I'm glad Gege has stood on bidness and not retread to please those types of fans

not sure what you’re tryna say. i like that he’s not scared to kill off characters. just sucks to know your fav won’t make it through a spoiler on christmas

it may have been a projection of how he felt about himself?
