now this is what i like to hear. i’m taking a little break and then binge reading the manga as well
Hell yea that cliff hanger at the end of S2 didn’t really do it for me so I had to read
Wondering about the thread’s reception of jjk philosophical interests. I personally find the ruminations on love, humanity, and how sorcery affects the jjk world not incredibly engaging but I don’t know my Buddhism like that.
I feel it’s hard to totally get behind anyone’s motive bc the yapping is so esoteric. How do others see it?
EDIT after posting this I read this fascinating theory on the very topic that got me more interested.
Ofc MANGA SPOILERS

not sure what you’re tryna say. i like that he’s not scared to kill off characters. just sucks to know your fav won’t make it through a spoiler on christmas
Basically him not reacting to the backlash and idiotic criticism of some fans that said they would drop the series after it, or started calling him an awful writer and saying jjk was bad though following it weekly
Think I read about 40 chapters today
I'll end off at 240 and finish up tomorrow
Further thoughts since I'm fully caught up now...
I hate drawing comparisons but I'll make an exception here. You know how in Naruto, Orochimaru tried to take over Sasuke's bodies for almost a decade? Gege essentially allowed his own version of Sasuke to get his body taken over...by his version of Madara. Then allowed him to body his version of Minato so badly he went to the afterlife and said that it wasn't even close.
TL;DR Sukuna is something different man...
Got to 247, took 6 days, probably the fastest I've read through a manga, of course I just picked up from where the anime left off. Probably got through CSM faster since it's shorter.
Gege's writing style is interesting, at first it was a bit jarring where I feel typically most mangaka aren't as fast paced as this. They also tend to explain things before just bouncing to the next, but his style is straight to action then some exposition later on.
The way that he is able to introduce characters and gas them up from a strength standpoint only to have a battle that'll be over within like two chapters is dope tho.
Onto the story itself As mentioned in the latest chapter about Sukuna having not used his fire ability yet. The guy still feels like he has so much in the tuck. Gojo said it wasn't even close. This battle as approach what I'm assuming is the end of the manga, I just don't feel like anyone here should beat Sukuna. Yuji seems like he's finally getting a power up after being basic as s\*\*\* all series, so we'll see how that goes.
Honestly it feels like Sukuna is being nerfed or kept reasonable for plot right now. Compared to how crazy he was going in Shibuya the scale of the damage isn't even close to the same right now. No disrespect to Gojo, he obviously has to play defense going against multiple sorcerers now, but that nigga is just him. Like my guy is just slash people and punching people, he not even doing too much fr. I'm team Sukuna give him the victory.
High key the comedian fella gotta have the best power in the entire series. Choso & Maki top notch characters too, I wish Yuki didn't die her power was tough would've liked to see her fight more.

It was close though. Sukuna needed Mahoragas adaptation to bypass infinity. If his curse technique was viable, he would have used it.

I mean infinity super OP as a power so that's reasonable

Not the only time jjk is "naruto with consequences"
If you think about it everytime Naruto used the nine tails it was more or less a cool rage powerup. Now thats fixed with Sukuna directly working against Yujis interest. They also not becoming friends here.
And as you said Sasuke shouldve faced more consequences from taking Orochimarus power instead it made him more cool and badass. Meanwhile poor old megumi never abandoned Yuji and was just negligent because he desperately tried to safe his sister

And I LOVE that aspect of Yuji-Sukuna's dynamic! Not every antagonist needs to be redeemed, it is ok for a character to be big and evil for the sake of it. ESPECIALLY in this instance, you're not going to turn a thousand-year-old king of curses to the side of righteousness and folks will let that s\*\*\* slide lmao
I was also literally on chapter 207 talking with another friend who was catching up who was a little ahead of me that I really liked Yuki's character...just for her to die at the end of the chapter
Nothing wrong with that but it just caught me off guard lmao

??? What consequences should he have faced? He was already accustomed to his chakra plus he overpowered him.

Sasuke shouldve faced more consequences just storytelling wise for being consumed by power out of envy of Naruto and endangering all his peers while going to the till then main bad guy that just killed the Hokage. But naruto even redeemed Orochimaro and invited him to his wedding so uhh.

I mean he saved the world, then was imprisoned. Then travelled the world for like 10 years basically atoning for his sins.

ofc but I am just giving examples of why I think Naruto has very forgiving writing whereas Jujutsu Kaisen does similar things but with alot heavier consequences
what you like more is kinda just preference
Altho Kenjaku coming to Yujis wedding as father and mother would be hilarious

Oh for sure Naruto was more forgiving. JJK also has better writing.
