Finished Later by Stephen King. Not too long and was a fun read. Nice thriller+horror book. Thought it was gonna be just a thriller but oh well, it was still amazing.

2/5
This was an 80s actioner cheesefest with your adventurer white guy tryna single-handedly save Africa, your savage African brutes and calculating asian villain with a sick fetish for torturing kids so you know he's the bad guy. Hell, they even got African oompa loompas in here
The ending is hilariously abrupt and some mad boring bits that went forever could have been cut out, the prose and dialogue is stiff/dry but Wilbur Smith does his research
. You can actually see it in his books.

8/10
Dostoyevsky captures the feel of losing in life like no one else. Most of the chapters looked like some 4chan troll/alt manifesto and it kept matching the 4chan era while the underground man kept vomiting all these rage, insults, sorrow and projecting so much on every person he met.
The Internet would have been the natural habitat of the protagonist, who is some of the most toxic emotions in human form.
Finished The Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Eugenides. Extremely well written, the plot was a bit convoluted and pacing is a bit weird mostly due to the author detailing nearly everything but it's done beautifully so I wasn't letdown much. I think being in nearly the same age group as the subjects of the book helped the experience and I may not like it as much few years down the line and may even feel grossed out by certain sequences. Might check the movie later too.
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
love this book, I think i'm just a big stan of Murakami and the way he writes. I can't wait to re-read it when I go through his bibliography in order
Finished Unwinding Anxiety, now to actually apply this s***
As helpful/informative as you'd hoped?

have you read any of his other stuff?
it IS a big book (1100+ pages) but honestly it is a pretty easy and engaging read. I finished the last two parts (book is split into 3 parts) in a week

Nah never even knew if he was highly regarded as an author. Book length never bothered me just didnt know if the plot and writing would be worth it

I believe he is highly regarded, although not without his criticisms. As far as plot goes, many of his more surreal books are pretty abstract and don't always tie up every loose end, many things will go unexplained and that may or may not be a satisfying experience for you. my belief is that all the answers can be found within the text but it might just take time to decipher. If that doesn't sound like something you'd like then i'd suggest one of his contemporary books like Norwegian Wood which is more straightforward and then from there you can decide whether you like his writing style or not.

Don't start with 1Q if you looking to check him out. Wild sheep chase, winding bird chronicles. That's his style basically. Norwegian Wood is an outlier/more traditional

Absolutely when I was reading it, but I need to create a plan to apply it otherwise it won’t be helpful :/
