top 3 is similar but would have moonrise kingdom in the third spot. also FMF>>> Isle of Dogs for me
Prime has a lot of his filmography
Life Aquatic not in top 3
He's pretty damn underrated.
Look at his commercials. Aside from his signature aesthetic, the textures, fluidity and storytelling is pretty damn good. He's also underrated at filming cars

He's more of a niche and imo isn't as revered as the Malick's, Chazelle's or even the Eggers of our time.

From Royal Tenenbaums in 2001 up to present day:15 Oscar noms, 17 BAFTA noms, 9 Golden Globe noms.
Multiple films of his are featured on many of the media's routine critic and viewer "best of the decade/century" polls.
He's #155 in IMDB's 250 highest rated directors of all time.
He is far more revered in both the media and by audiences than all 3 of those filmmakers you named โ and he has been for the past 2 decades.
Life Aquatic not in top 3

It was on ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ข๐บ, ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ถ๐ข๐ณ๐บ 10๐ต๐ฉ, 2022 that Jonboi, responding to a post by one ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฉ ๐ผ๐ฅ๐, decided to rank the decidedly dense filmography of
Wes Anderson.
It is the opinion of this writer that the type of man who would dedicate time to such an endeavor, is the type of man who enjoys a funny little thing called ๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ผ๐, often in the face of a rather cruel and misbegotten world.
I do star rankings.
1. The Life Aquatic {5 stars}
2. Fantastic Mr. Fox {5 stars}
3. The Grand Budapest Hotel {5 stars}
4. The Royal Tenenbaums {5 stars}
5. Rushmore {5 stars}
6. The Darjeeling Limited {4.5 stars}
7. The French Dispatch {4.5 stars}
8. Moonrise Kingdom {4.5 stars}
9. Bottle Rocket {4 stars}
10. Isle of Dogs {4 stars}

I hope I'm missing something with Darjeeling. I'm gonna rewatch it soon and see if I got it wrong.

Once you give in to how on the nose certain metaphors are, the movie starts to open up. I was really touched by the brothersโ shared trauma. The film is sneakily a raw nerve, and Anderson is as funny as ever.
I saved The Darjeeling Limited for last, and it somehow ended up being my favorite. I think each character was fully fleshed out and their dynamic was beautiful and real. I resonated a lot with the overarching themes, and it was just a beautiful movie through and through.
10/10 for me personally
So apart from Grand Budapest Hotel, and Fantastic Mr Fox which I watched when I was too young to remember, hadn't seen any other Anderson films so I decided to check them all out this year because his filmography is small anyway.
Best to worst:
The Grand Budapest Hotel (9/10)
The Royal Tenenbaums (8/10)
Rushmore (8/10)
Isle of Dogs (8/10)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (8/10)
Life Aquatic (7/10)
Bottle Rocket (7/10)
Moonrise Kingdom (7/10)
The Darjeeling Limited (6/10)
Very solid filmography, maybe some of these ratings will go higher on rewatches. If he can deliver 2 more great films I'd have no issue with him being labeled a top 40-50 director.
This was definitely one of my favorite shots:
the french dispatch ?
Add it to the mid pile
