Take it outside sometimes even if you don't really have a yard. Cats get all weird couped up.

I have a yard. Might take it outside eventually while supervising it. We got hawks out here so don’t want one scooping him up

Not at all. Was meowing like crazy in the car and scratching at the box he was in prob cuz of movement. But as soon as he went under the couch he’s been dead silent for the most part

That’s good then because a kitten that’s really scared will just meow nonstop. Just give him a little bit of time and he’ll warm up to you.

You should also but him in a safe space to sleep at night so he doesn’t wander into anything dangerous. When I had my kitten I kept her in the bathroom for a few nights until she got more adjusted.

That’s the plan lol. I’m just hoping he comes out sometime today so I can pick him up and put him in the downstairs bathroom. I set up his food, water, litter, and bed all there for now to get him used to a smaller space. Then I’ll spread stuff out as needed. My brother said he barely came out for a second when I wasn’t looking but went back inside so I guess we’re making progress

    What Ive learned is:

    • Keeping the kitten in a room for the first few days/week(s) of getting it is helpful to keep it from getting overwhelmed, then slowly start letting it roam the rest of the house more and more
    • My cat doesnt like the litter and food/water bowls too close to each other (dont know why), it was acting out until this was fixed
    • If your cat stops drinking from a bowl, try getting a cheap water fountain device
    • Crystal litter can get expensive on its own so its best to make a mix of crystal and clay litter to save $

Bet appreciate it g. Now number one priority is to somehow get him to the bathroom so he can have his own space lol

    What a cute cat.

Hiding under the couch is completely normal at first. My cat did it too, but then it got used to the apartment.
