i mean no other countries beside post-WW2 america really do the whole rugged individual “kicked out at 18 to join the rat race” type s***, which was perpetrated by primarily white people to become mainstream

the problem isn’t from secular progression of society (which is a positive IMO), it’s from capitalism which reinforces this dumb and false narrative of a supposed american dream-esque “meritocracy”

there is a book called bowling alone which is about similar topics

exactly, and it gets ingrained in you so early and quickly too. i remember when i was a kid telling my mom something along the lines of "when i move out when i'm 18" and she was straight up blindsided, and she explained we don't do that s***

You quit your job and decided to move out? Sounds like a bad combo no matter your savings.

But to answer your question. My girl moved in with me last year and her dad was upset of being left alone. He got over it quick once he realized she was doing good. So get your stuff straight then have them over for dinner and have your door open to them

    :(

just make sure to call and visit her often!! I call my parents at least once a week and text them basically every day tbh

  • My grandpa always said "If you raise your kids right, they'll grow up to leave you." You gotta do your thing OP, everyone will see that given time.
