Watched this today. It was cool but made me want to watch the OG Spanish one cause I feel like it could’ve been much better

You could definitely see how this story sorta influenced Inception with the building your own dreams but haunted be a woman subconscious

You were right Spanish version was superior. Maybe because reading subtitles forced me to pay attention to plot more

I also liked main character’s acting better than Cruise. Cruise came off as corn sometimes. He was just fan girling over Penelope Cruz while this guys was more suave

And although for the most part Vanilla Sky stayed faithful to source material the changes they did make didn’t all work for me

I think they handled the ending better too

If someone is planning on watching the Spanish version I wouldn’t recommend watching them back to back unless you really trying to spot differences because there are a lot of scenes beat for beat same.

Dialogue in Spanish (at least according to subtitles) aged much better tho

There’s no “I swallowed your cum” or “Human resources!” or wanting to come back as mole on Penelope’s titty or whatever Cameron Diaz was saying when Cruise was bruising her walls before he suffocates her

The middle of this movie is the most infuriating thing ever but in the end, I liked it

yeah its not a bad adaptation but the og obviously preferable
