I mean I definitely respect that the Snyder verse was doing its own thing and I prefer it to what they have been doing lately with the dogshit that was WW84 and Shazam (even though I'd take Joker over most of the DC movies)

but there is no way the Snyder verse was going to beat the MCU in terms of the brand/dominance. The fact Joker out sold most of those movies is pretty indicative lol. And I think BvS's failure to really connect with general audiences was just as big a factor for JL being a flop as it was for the studio restrictions around its creative process.

Marvel went to a different planet when Disney bought them, they are excellent on branding and s***

How many Jokers can you pull before general audiences get bored and the money starts drying up

just give us the original JL plan if possible. we really don’t need a Snyder verse, stand alone movies is the way to go.

I really can't blame Reeves since he seems to have a Gotham universe brewing but if so hopefully its spaced enough. If he's successful with his film(s) tho people would be tuning in to whatever movie he appears in anyways tho

people don’t acknowledge any of their missteps or mediocre films. None of them were strongly panned or failed at the box office so they’re all technically successful.

Captain Marvel was the first time since Iron Man 2 I’ve seen fans express such disappointment.
Some of that was probably due to the Brie Lesbian hate tho and even then you still had fans who tried to act like everyone trashing it were losers even tho it was truly soulless. Not just in its storytelling but in Brie Lesbian’s performance and visual story. Only Marvel can make sci-fi movies about aliens & superheroes look bland as s***. thank god they have James Gunn

yeah, I hate cinematic universes with a passion, but they really have fully capitalized on it and now they are going into the alternative timelines and s***. They are going to milk the living s*** out of the superhero genre and it makes me laugh when people compare this to westerns in the 50s-60s because this s*** is going to go on for wayyyy f***ing longer and it already has tbh.

DCEU is already starting down this path as well though they still are failing pretty spectacularly at it (birds of prey being a straight up flop, ww84 being trash,etc.)

The Batman and Gunn's Suicide Squad do seem like really promising projects though.

They destroyed Iron Man 2 to set up all these characters and stories for the Avengers and it paid off for them

I’ll give Ayer this, his aesthetic choices were interesting and if nothing else Suicide Squad looked more like a Batman comic book than any other live action adaptation.
