New single sonically stale I didn’t even want to give it a full listen

    haven’t even listened yet

Maybe the least interesting formulaic boring ass direction possible for him

I just do not give a f*** about this direction for Bieber there is nothing compelling about it

Surprisingly I even liked the last era more and that was just a less interesting version of the breezy thug tape

I knew when I saw feat chance it’d be some
Super poppy music and it doesn’t do it for me

    Yup
Last era was at least somewhat interesting

    This is just so plain

Gimme a reason to care about this dudes music and check for it

Speaking of that Bieber ski song top 10 in his discog

The thug collab that leaked was the Middest of mid though

    Post Malone ?

Doesn’t have the image, controversy or stans. He’s talented but nowhere near Bieber imo

Even though it was very formulaic I liked at least 6-7 songs off the last album. And kept me in rotation for a while

yea like the music is always gonna be like fairly solid in whatever area/sub genre it goes in

I just want the direction to be there and the interest from my end is only really gonna come when the direction is like unique

This s*** just feels like it’s been the board room plan for Bieber for the last 4 years

this thread is lowkey on the money though

That level of just singular cultural impact just doesn’t even feel possible anymore given how everything is so scattered now

This new single was a step in the right direction in the sense that minimal production works really well for him. His voice is angelic and needs to be prominent, not an accessory to a beat like Sorry.

I’m not into the gospel stuff but I like the song aside from Chance

Relax theres hundreds of white boys like him.

I haven’t listened yet but I will at some point so I can’t give my take on the song itself

But yea Bieber works very well doing vocal heavy stuff. S*** like where are u now is cool but it’s not his strength imo. He has a really incredibly pure voice and just layering behind electronic chops and synths feels like a waste to some extent

From a fans standpoint it’s nice to hear the evolution lyrically too. He’s matured a lot the last 5 years and his love for Hailey is definitely evident in all his songs now

    Yea I mean
    Don’t get me wrong
The direction is a natural evolution for him

It’s just that because it’s so natural and like obvious I’m not super interested in it

Understandable. That’s definitely why Journals was such a pleasant surprise. I’ve enjoyed every album of his regardless though.

Journals and purpose felt like the only directionful albums he’s made

Although I don’t think anyone is pushing him in any direction I just think this is the output coming from his brain
