    New NIGHTMAN

if any other singer dropped Changes they would be ripped to shreds on here

Exactly. I could see if it had a least half a dozen great songs, but every song was a Yummy remix

And the fact the album was 17 or 18 tracks with only 2 or 3 decent songs

And then he had the nerve to come at someone else for saying they had the best R&B album of the year when his was barely even listenable music to begin with

But yes Bieber is the last true male pop star

Edit: Scratch that, Shawn Mendes exists

I wish pop stars were more original. The only original artists under 35 are Rihanna and Drake. Everyone else is either copying each other or someone who came before them. And it's not even "influenced". It's straight copying and so many of them keep getting in trouble for stealing anyway, they never learn

I don’t think either Rihanna or Drake is original. Pop by nature is unoriginal

Nope. Drake continued the legacy Nelly started with bridging that gap between rap/rnb/pop and kinda re-popularized it with singing his own hooks. Rihanna is less original, but she has a lot of impact and none of her peers are touching her outside of Taylor and Bey (if Bey even counts as a peer)

    Shawn Mendes?

I knew I was forgetting some guy. It's definitely Shawn, but Bieber was the last one for a long time

You just told me that Drake is doing what Nelly did. Which means he’s not original.

Usher and Chris both were bridging those three genres before drake even released music

"You just told me that Drake is doing what Nelly did"
    ???

Continuing a legacy doesn't mean doing the same thing. Janet Jackson continued the legacy of Diana Ross and Tina Turner and all 3 are very different.

And Chris didn't bridge anything. I assume you're thinking about rapping and singing. I do think he's great at it, but it started a long time before he even came onto the scene.

Usher and Destiny's Child were the ones who helped kick start the trend of rap-singing with the albums My Way and self-titled/WOTW. I'm sure they weren't the first, but they were among the most popular with songs Nice & Slow, Bug A Boo, My Way, ...all becoming huge hits and others started to follow. It really started with Mary J Blige and Mariah Carey doing those rnb/hip hop and pop/hip hop collabs. Ush and DC were young and decided to do it all by themselves and it caught on. Then the song Yeah! by itself even made that gap much smaller, nevermind all the other crunk songs out at the time (Ciara's debut was very impactful believe it or not). A lot of 90s acts were ahead of their time when you think about it

Funny how everyone complains about Usher and Beyonce rapping now when they've been doing it for over 20 years

Changes was so disappointing, the way he tried so hard to push Yummy was so embarassing too...

Sorry, What do you mean, Where are U now... all such good singles from the album before too.
