i have to agree , paintings are more tangible

but tadao is still alive and old, i wonder how much it will cost when he dies, you can never say no to real estate tho

Yeah I hear what you're saying but I don't think most buyers look at real estate as art.

A client of mine just bought one of Frank Lloyd Wright's crib for under one million this year. I'd rather have a $60 million dollar art piece that will be valued at $600 million before i die. But I'm also not a billionaire lol

i hear u dawg , i wish i understood how the market worked

it seems like this tadao houses barely lose there value , most of his building sell between 30-50 million in the last 5 years

kanye got this at a discount 25 million less + it being on malibu + ye living inside it , i think this s*** will be worth 70 million in a few years time, you can never go wrong with real estate , i think its better than having assests sitting in your bank

I’m done with Chicago. I go to CA 1-2x per year and it makes me realize I’m way happier without winter.

    No sense of character man

    Another postmodernist piece of junk

Post modern can have a lot of character if done correctly

But yeah this looks like a prison based off the images

I love works in the genre but as with any genre there’s the more generic and unengaging works, this being one of them

I’m a big fan of the architecture style when structure and style is subverted but nothing is being made out to the viewer

    Trap a holic

wtf is postmodern about this? its like cobusier meets wright, modernist icons. post modern s*** is way different, like Shin Takamatsu

edit: actually looking up some of this guys work he def has a lot of pomo peices but thats not what he's famous for and this malibu house aint one of those. its like calling savage mode a mumble rap album its just incorrect

You’re right tbh, there’s not enough subversion for it to be postmodern

Even then not the biggest fan

Sold by retired Wall Street financier Richard Sachs, best known as the ex-boyfriend of Ashley Olson, the Malibu property last transferred for just $1.9 million in 2003. Beginning in the mid-aughts, Sachs spent millions, and seven years of planning and construction, to build a hulking three-story house that more closely resembles a military-grade bunker than it does an ordinary home. The structure reportedly required 1,200 tons of poured concrete, 200 tons of steel reinforcement and 12 pylons driven 60 feet into the ground, supporting the monstrously heavy house from sinking into the sand.

Paying all that just to have neighbours stuck right by your house

This is what I never got about those Malibu homes. I live in LA. Not only are they crammed next to each other but they're also right on the pacific coast highway which is exactly what it sounds like, a f***ing highway.
