I think if Ye retired or died after TLOP, less ppl would be saying this. But he’s stained his career and discography so much at this point that I can’t really hold them

I think I agree with you that Kanye should have stepped away long ago.

The front half of his career was so potent to me personally that Kendrick doing the superbowl is his introduction in the same conversation as Kanye to me

Or I grew up listening to Jay Z music my whole life?

Like bruh the internet got yall so confused yall dont know everybody and yall dont understand people have different perspectives

Im not saying YOU gotta like Jay Z more im saying what I personally like, how are u gonna tell me what I am

I wasn't saying you were wrong for heralding JAY Z. Im saying that this current generation find it hard to resonate with his catalog.

You sound very combative for no reason, like a female.

If he stopped after Donda LP2, when he floated into the sky, he would’ve went down as the greatest to ever do it

Instead he did a 3rd LP with SA niggas and the rest is history

Jay-Z was cooler than Kanye during the BP3 era. Motherfucker was sagging hard as hell in his 40s, damn near a billionaire in that era lmao

Yeah a lot of niggas on this website did not grow up with parents that even listened to rap and weren’t immersed in rap culture at all until they discovered Kanye and expect me to have the same opinions as them

I was raised on hip hop purely , my perspective is gonna be different

I misread the tone of your post because a lot of people have been saying this same sentiment but actually from their perspective

There wasn’t nothing female about what I just said though, women definitely have a better grip on their emotions than men

If you consider yourself a hip-hop head and haven’t listened to Hovs prime catalog then you’re missing out big time

I understand why the current generation of kids wouldn’t like it tho. It’s highly lyrical and the production may feel dated to them

Followed Kanye from College Dropout to now. Remember seeing Frontin on BET when the s*** released. I grew up on Hip Hop, Kanye was always an alternative type dude to a lot of rap listeners.

As an old head myself (I watched every Kanye album come out in real time)

We had to go back and listen to older rap too that sounded dated and stuff in order to have buy in on the music and a valid opinion imo.

That’s kind of been lost in the internet discourse of music and I think it’s important to conserve it.

What’s crazy is Kanye’s creativity and passion fizzled out after a decade

Kendrick’s over a decade in and just hit a new prime

Yeah I grew up literally arguing with most the adults in my life about Kanye and definitely niggas at school , thats why I tell people this Kanye is the undisputed GOAT s*** is some online s***

In real life people have diverse opinions, theres nobody who is unanimously loved

I think his music being unavailable on streaming for years, as well as him owning a competitor to Spotify and AM is why so many younger people are unfamiliar. Spotify isn’t exactly gonna favor the discover algorithm for a guy that is trying to eat into their market share

Absolutely. I remember being a kid and my peers not f***ing with golden era hip-hop (krs, Rakim, kool g rap) bc it felt like old head music. I always tried to pay my respects tho bc that’s previous gen’s always lay the foundation for the next

Kendrick and Cole don’t portray a big enough lifestyle for Kanye to think they’re cool

He lowkey acts like a suburban white kid
