Pac seems like he was the first crash out thug rapper if I’m not mistaken. He’s the blueprint image-wise for people like Wayne, DMX, Thug, YB, etc.

2pac. I think a lot of people will say Kanye just because of recency bias and the fact that the level to which 2pac influenced hip hop is so great that it's foundational and taken for granted. What with the thug and gangsta image yet with the dichotomy of also being able to do softer more introspective songs. That's the template most popular hip hop artists have followed nowadays. Considering that he did that in such a short amount of time being famous, hes had a disproportionate influence.

Kanye has definitely had a huge amount of influence, probably in the top 3 impact wise, but I think his recent behaviour will tarnish his image and push the next generation of artists away from him in terms of being influenced by him

I’d say Ye, tho Tupac’s legacy is not to be played with. Kanye has just had more time and become way more engrained into the culture, aside from his recent years.

I agree, it's just I'm arguing that I don't know if that impact will pass on to the next generation. We all know how Kanyes influenced artists like Drake, Juice Wrld, Tyler and so on, the list is basically never ending for this generation of rappers. But 2pacs already shown his impact to pass on multiple generations already. Will the same happen for Kanye? Time will tell, but I'm arguing that it won't pass on as much as 2pac. Still a lot but not on the same level. Similar to how famous historical generals and figures who've done great things also tarnished their image and respect in the history books and discredited their own influence

Pac has had a bigger impact on rappers. Even the vulnerability that a lot of rappers show today is more reminiscent of Tupac than what Ye was doing on 808s
