So Kanye didn’t influence an entire generation and the most famous woman on the planet and the biggest rappers in this generation? I’m saying this as a big Pac fan

Yeah exactly. That's why 2pac is orders of magnitude more influential. He was earlier and more impactful in a fraction of the time.

It’s like a compounding effect through time and generations

I’d say Ye, tho Tupac’s legacy is not to be played with. Kanye has just had more time and become way more engrained into the culture, aside from his recent years.

The magnitude of Yeezy is hard to ignore

His influence won't hold up as well as Tupac's has and to the extent that it has imo, history shows us that people who act up in the later years of whatever they're doing tend to be judged most for that. Not even just in music.

If we look at who shaped the hip hop genre most it’s definitely 2Pac. Other rappers literally study him and his themes and apply it to rap to this day. Kanye has taken the genre baton and transformed it into a more culturally diverse and pop-appealing sound, but he works with the foundation that 2Pac and other greats already laid out. So it has to be 2Pac, because Kanye used his taste making ability to construct great albums using different genres, but hasn’t exactly built the hip hop genre, if anything he’s watered it down using the sounds of other genres. It didn’t used to be like that

Then Drake took it and followed Kanyes steps making it even more commercially viable, pop-like and many would argue watered down. But that's debatable

I feel like the impact of tupacs persona goes beyond the reach of his own music in a way but of course it’s been a long ass time, where as with ye it’s an all encompassing thing still
