And it all makes perfect sense. It was always leading to this - Ye's time to make a focused artistic statement with the kind of insane attention to detail that we used to take for granted. The 5 album 7 song EP run in Wyoming 3 years ago this month was a dry run for what it looks like we are about to see this time with some actual planning and deliberation supporting all of it.

Like it or not Ye has to convince both the haters and the unaware in 2021 that he really IS that level of artist he likes to paint himself as. Ye's body of work will always speak for itself but he needs to now prove he can do it in a new decade.

I think Kanye's pretty comfortable making albums for himself and his own enjoyment as opposed to trying to make something that he knows will land with the most people possible, it could be an album where he just gives us 16 tracks that people want but I feel like that would be compromising his vision, which over the last few years has been dropping super personal music

This is most definitely a reddit moment for the ages.

Subject matter aside - i think it's a safe bet that the production and sonic detail is about to be on a whole other level than Ye and JIK. Even if you love those last two albums, they were deliberately stripped down and inarguably rushed in places. Like at the very least he's not gonna be punching in on verses minutes before this one drops.

All signs point to this being the kind of elaborate and meticulous creation that we haven't witnessed from the man in a long time is all I'm saying. All of this time spent making/scrapping songs, along with the big name artists he's been apparently working with say, to me, that he's aiming big here in a way he hasn't since MBDTF. The That Thing sample alone has been telling us all along that he's not gonna be playing around with this one.

Most likely not, but he definitely can make another TLOP level album and at this point in his career that would be a huge success

id be more than content with an album of songs that are all as good or better than his 30 seconds on 4th dimension

No because the absurd amount of effort put into MBDTF was very much a conscious decision. Kanye wanted to create a perfect, and as he's said later, 'critic-bait' type record. Something to prove that he could make an album like that. He had the core team playing basketball together and having strict regimes, whether it be dieting, exercise, and studio time. I don't see him slipping back into that music-only mindset, especially with YZY gap on the horizon.

I think if this album is like any of his others, it'll be a mix of TLOP and YE. But then again, Kanye has always pushed forward, tried something new, reached new personal boundaries, so who knows? Will this be about his divorce at all? Will it be about his continuing faith journey? We won't know until we hear it. All I can say is that I'm excited for this album in a way I haven't been since YE, so the feeling is restored for me, personally.
