Sep 1, 2021·1 replybe2saneLet me just end my night with this, i think Off The Grid is possibly the worst track off Donda, mainly because of the trashy doodoo wannabe gangster drillbeat which just fails miserably at what it tries to accomplish. The main perpetrator i believe is the bassline, which is way too tryhard to resemble an actual good drill bassline. The person who wrote that melody should never be allowed to make drillbeats again. A shame really, especially since the first beat was actually hard and Carti showed us it had amazing potential. Anyway enjoy the rest of Donda but not this doodoo drillbeat with its crappy bassline.
i actually really enjoy off the grid but i do think it would have been more appreciated as a “one off” single like how “all day” was. sonically it doesn’t fit as well into the tracklist as the other songs do
