Yeah I still definitely feel that way. I don’t think Kendrick’s discography can hang with Kanye’s first 5 albums at all. And as much as I do hold Ye’s rapping against his stuff after that, it’s still honestly pretty close when comparing their 2010s work so I guess that’s a testament to how great Ye is, that his post prime stuff can even go toe to toe at all.

Sometimes I just get frustrated at feeling like Ye doesn’t put in the same effort he used to so I might be prone to judging his later stuff too negatively after experiencing Grad-808s-MBDTF-WTT in real time, but I can say Ye’s music is still up there for sure. I just don’t know if I can say the very top, I feel like there’s a handful of artists who have been more consistent. Maybe part of it is me knowing what Ye is capable of.
