no you don’t ur just trying to wiggle ur self out of this

meta knew about this about problem, said so in their own internal documents and did nothing to change their algorithm at all, you can’t abstract ur way out of this by blaming algorithms in general so u can ignore this one

U right and i didnt know they decided not to take action after knowing it was a problem. Thank you for the clarity, sir

So it's better to instead of maybe....not contribute to that said slave labor just put your hands up being like "welp, this slave labor was already happening before I came in. One more extra hand in the pot won't hurt?" is your version of ethical?

U got it man im really not tryna defend zuck and bill gates due to their inolvement in a lot of f***ed up s*** in 3rd world countries. Esp gates so called philanthropy efforts in africa…

HOWEVER an ethical billion has happened and is still possible.

Ye also just needs smarter better team/advisors

there's a reason all the visionaries and folks that bettered our global society for the better, was never billionaires (or millionaires if we really wanna take it there)

  • SEPTEMBER99

i think it's reasonable to compare the ways billionaires made their money.

i don't know about all of his investments or businesses, but i think it's fair to assume that Lebron James has profitted more than $1 billion between NBA salary and endorsements.

in other words, his fortune was built off of (extremely highly compensated) individual labor.

i think this is meaningfully different from someone who makes $1 billion owning a business, but i can't completely put my finger on why. i want to say it's about owning the means of production (i.e. are you an owner or an employee). but the CEO issue makes me pause -- CEOs are highly paid employees who I do believe are unethical operators.

Lebron made his money in sneakers

  • CrimsonArk

When he said he hated the paparazzi more than the Nazis back in 2007.

I was thinking about that today lol.

    Garvey?

garvey wasn't all the way loved by niggas even back then (and not just "ignant niggas") there's a lot of legit things you can criticize Marcus Garvey for. but we'd derail this thread a whoooooole lot

  • glockglockglock

Lebron made his money in sneakers

yeah definitely not a perfect example. the sneakers are made by slaves.

  • glockglockglock

Lebron made his money in sneakers

is Lebron's story the same thing as Ye? in the sense that the music industry/NBA really just functioned mostly as massive international celebrity promotion? and then they leveraged their celebrity to make billions off sneakers?

  • Flyghost

Fell into the trap of the negative connotation of ‘exploit’ ppl have. yes every business person is using leverage and utilizing someone else’s labour or knowledge BUT what i don't believe is that every billionaire “took advantage of (a person, situation, etc) unethically or unjustly”..

    My examples:
Zuckerburg, airbnb founders, bill gates, michael jordan, robert smith, and theres many more

    Oh jeez

Bill Gates put a mass amount of effort into making sure he had the closest thing possible to a monopoly and its an easy bet that lot of the materials for those puter components were obtained unethically, next.

Jordan got wealthy off of sweatshop labor, next.

  • Flyghost

It would be better if yall could form an opinion/argument instead of laughing back into ur social justice programming

And monopoly is one of my favourite games lol

Social justice programming aka basic economics lmao

he allied with the KKK (not in the self hating way but saying "at least they have a purpose for the negro" is f***ing NUTS)

also mans had bougie ideals too lol

In 1921, Garvey traveled to the Caribbean aboard a Black Star Line ship, the newly-acquired Antonio Maceo. While in Jamaica, he criticized its inhabitants as being backward and claimed that "Negroes are the most lazy, the most careless and indifferent people in the world" His comments in Jamaica earned many enemies, who criticized him on multiple fronts, including the fact he had left his destitute father to die in an almshouse

not really. But I can see how you could compare it.

Marcus Garvey was actually in meetings with KKK folks.

I don't think ye has met a real life nazi/white nationalist. (maybe I'm wrong does Nick Fuentes classify himself as a white nationalist?)

So he’s an accomplice that still benefits from sweatshop labor

That man did not make a billion off of HORNETS jerseys (which would be made with… Sweatshop labor) man be fr

No he hasn’t. Having shares in a company doesn’t mean you get money, it just means you have shares. Skims hasn’t gone IPO and they don’t have to bc their funding rounds have been very successful

It’s like Elon’s space X. There’s no need for him to open it up to the public bc he had no issue raising money for it

so all he has is a very small % and he won’t see any money from that unless Kim decides to go public (and he sells his shares) or sell

I mean a major deal like this, the NBA deal, and the fact they were scheduled to go public last year is all but looking good for Ye soon 👍🏾

It’s the opposite. This gave Nike shares a 4% boost today but this lessens their need to go public

And I’ve never got 💯 confirmation on this but I heard he doesn’t own any part of Skims anymore. She bought him out around the time he was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy
