Kanye says a lot of stupid s***, let's be real.

I'm sure he was incredibly proud of that record when he completed it and whatever he says about it in hindsight doesn't change what it's been since release day: a masterpiece.

thanks for proving exactly my point. I said kanye fused a few elements to create an experience that was brand new and then you said one of those elements has been done before.

Extravagant, high budget, all synonyms but whatever

It was superrrrr safe. Especially when you compare it’s sound to its contemporaries. 808 and Yeezus both sounded nothing like mainstream hip hop. Nor were they albums a mainstream hip hop artist would’ve ordinarily dropped in those years.

MBDTF is 10/10 but it’s not got a boundary pushing experimental sound

Ok so even though it’s obvious I just double checked and the words u used are all synonyms for expensive. I win, u lose. Accept defeat with grace or lose credibility

    tbh

I feel like his recent statements about MBDTF fall in line with a recent trend in Kanye, in which he just goes against the grain of popular culture for the sake of going against the grain, it's why he supports President Trump, and makes the music that he is currently making

    Hell he was saying this in 2018;

and now I'm willing to bet he's s***ting all over MBDTF after seeing a bunch of critics listing that record as one of the best of the 2010s, because it allows him to "troll conventional thought"

or, I'm completely wrong and his priorities/interests have simply changed since he posted that 2018 tweet lmao, which wouldn't be surprising considering it's Kanye we're talking about here

yeah, and at the same time, I don't blame him for thinking that way, guy wouldn't even be half a successful as he became by following the "conventional thought" that he couldn't rap, he was better off just producing, or couldn't design high-fashion clothing, etc.

How much coke was Ye on in the making of mbdtf

In my eyes, he used to have intuition and go against popular things naturally, without putting much thought into it. He would instinctively just be ahead of the curve on things. Nowadays it feels like he’s lost that intuition and makes up for it by just seeing what’s popular and deciding he’s purposely going to go against that.

  • Apr 20, 2020

I dont get how yall are debating intent. Whatever the artist says is what it is. There is no way to debate that lol

  • Apr 20, 2020

omg who gives a s*** what he says, you should know by now he just says random s*** so people start talking about him again

    Apr 21, 2020

I can see why he doesn't just wanna make an album like that again tho, you can't just keep making the same thing, he always wants to try new sounds and push new boundaries with his music
imagine if he'd listened to people who wanted him to keep making college dropout sounding albums over and over

  • Apr 21, 2020

Ye only s***s on MBDTF because he hasn’t been able to top it...so he just pulls the easy cop out “I don’t wanna make perfect music” whenever he releases half assed work like his past few projects....I see right through it whenever he tries to talk down on Dark Fantasy.

  • Apr 21, 2020

Nigga used to always brag about “spending 5000 man hours on Power” and now all of sudden he calls it his weakest single...foh Ye lol

  • Apr 21, 2020
    no one likes you

    Ye said POWER wasn't progressive.

Can’t take his opinions on his music serious on that lol Y’all let him change y’all opinions on Gold Digger too, I ain’t forget

when did he resent MBDTF??? he literally said he showed the world that he could create perfect. am i missing something?

He’s been doing this since 2013 and its getting old lol where have you been

  • Apr 22, 2020

Keep coming back to this post. OP summed it up perfectly gahtdamn

  • Apr 22, 2020

Man Kanye raised the bar so hard with MBDTF . He may not have “changed music” but he had the game scrambling to reach his level of high quality . Think of how hard the climate shifted between 2008/9 & 2010/11

  • Apr 22, 2020

Y’all on KTT too much lmao

  • Apr 22, 2020

S***'s a masterclass in terms of sonics & I firmly believe it to be the modern day "Chronic".

S*** is what mad me want to produce.

    It's genreless music.

    It's just good.
