Hooks definitely do count it’s basically the heartbeat of the lyrics

Depends on what you listen to music for. Verses > hooks imo

Neither is more important than the other, but if songs were a battlefield the hook is basically the general. Most verses are based off the hook because it drives the song. Staying uninvolved with your hooks is definitely a hit at your pen game. This wouldn’t make me look at Kendrick different but acting like it means nothing is crazy

  • I AM LOVE

Kendrick Lamar has never wrote a single verse all he does is sing wit some weird alien voice but yall not ready for this conversation

People always try to pull this card on artists smh s*** gets tiring

idk about this one but sometimes it's true. writers should come after what they're owed, they're more talented than most of the artists a lot of the time lol

Yeah I’m all for compensation but people try to tarnish legacies on here without even having a remote idea what’s going on in the creative process. People just take a single piece and create an entire narrative

I just want the same energy to be kept by the music sxn.

Now they'll start telling me all the different "rules" to "ghostwriting"

that's true, but artists who can actually create for themselves are rarer in the mainstream than they've been in some other eras. so maybe some of those legacies should be tarnished compared to the goats if they were overrated to being with.

The heart of the lyrics are the verses bro. Especially in rap

  • Sep 1, 2020

Lol y’all won’t get a Kendrick in these type of s*** lol. Mans doesn’t have writers 😂.

  • MrIndigo96

yeah this has more to do with the melody and cadence. Kendrick still Goat for writing his own lines. Hooks dont count

pretty sure he's talking about the production not the vocals

You can literally have a song with no hook.

We love saying things off speculation on this site.

But I'm reading the article and he's saying Kendrick stole his song, not that he helped Kendrick write it. Which are different things.

I jumped out the window w/ that comment.
