that's true, but artists who can actually create for themselves are rarer in the mainstream than they've been in some other eras. so maybe some of those legacies should be tarnished compared to the goats if they were overrated to being with.

    Good point

Hooks definitely do count it’s basically the heartbeat of the lyrics

I rate Kendrick more as an emcee that a hitmaker like when it comes to hooks or melodies.
that's what separates him from Drake. Drake can do both but Kendrick is superior on the emcee side

just realized thought this had to do with the song writing process but knew it was a stretch to come at Kendrick's pen game

We love saying things off speculation on this site.

But I'm reading the article and he's saying Kendrick stole his song, not that he helped Kendrick write it. Which are different things.

I jumped out the window w/ that comment.

we'll have to wait to hear more. a lot people contribute to kendrick songs, his verses are not the only writing on a track.

this could end up being about the beat or a pop writer who put rihanna's parts in the song, then kendrick used that cadence/melody for his lines too

Kendrick is the only credited writer on this song.

Rihanna got writing credits for her verse that Kendrick wrote

Then you have top dawg that didn’t write s***

Sounwave, Dahi and terrace that did the production that got writing credits lol

Nah, the lawsuit isn't alleging anything about writing.
    He's suing for production credit.

The title of the thread said ghostwriting that's why I said the original comment.

Sorry. DJ Dahi also came out with the melody to his part and Kendrick wrote the lyrics.

I really don't believe this. In fact, I think it used to be around the same or worse. It just comes out easier now.

Do you mean in hip hop, or all genres? i think the biggest 60s/70s artists were way more likely to write their hits or at least a lot of their hits, than the biggest artists now. Even in the 80s a lot of the biggest artists like Prince, U2 or Bruce Springsteen were prolific writers, even if i don't appreciate u2 lol. there are popstars now that are writers, but a lot of them stopped writing heavily years ago and now rely on max martin, shellback, louis bell and all of those types of writers

production is usually writing tho? cos of the chords, riffs etc. that are usually written by the producers or come from samples
