Shouldn't a 5 year hiatus mean you have more than enough time to craft a classic/flawless project? AABA and DAMN were near perfect albums dropped a week apart then they comeback after 5 years and drop some f***ing mid so dissapointing.

MMBS was much better than DAMN, I’ll agree with you on Joey tho 2000 was a letdown

Difficult to say. Time isn’t necessarily an accurate barometer for music quality unless it’s in moderation. Too much time can cause you to overdo it and obsess over minute details — imagine how many different styles and soundscapes were scrapped and reworked over 5 years of recording?

KTT2 really is the most schizo forum. Calls MMBS mid yet it blows out every other album released this year in every “AOTY so far…” thread posted on here

It consistently gets like double the votes of the runner up.

Most likely means you took a hiatus or your overthinking your craft. Time has nothing to do with art or skill imo. With that being said,MM&BS is a good album just a different approach from Kendrick

When we gonna admit that just because an artist takes a long time in between projects doesn’t mean that it’ll be that much better (or worse) and doesn’t even necessarily mean they were working on that project for that amount of time

2000 way better than AABA lmao

  • The only person that this hiatus s*** has applied to is D'Angelo. And even then, it doesn't tell you s*** about the quality of music you'll get, idek how y'all convinced yourselves about this like it's a hard set rule.

A lot can happen in between albums. Lack of inspiration, tragedy etc.

Sometimes art is like that, doesn't mean the album isn't great. I've listened to MMBS a few times and haven't listened to it since but its still stuck with me

nah it means nothing really. it’s just that SOME artists like to be mysterious and “take their time” on projects and some of those artists are looked at highly from the majority and media. but that doesn’t mean this is the rule it’s more of an exception for these handful of artists. i do think certain artists possibly believe this themselves for some reason, that them not dropping an LP for however many years increases the hype because they’ve been “starving” the fans.

  • Jul 24, 2022

At some point all artists start to drop projects worse than before, better just get over it and move on, imho. Nothing lasts anyways.

Rocky isn't capable of making a project as mid as these two just dropped like he simply doesn't have a bad project in his discog and is actually a perfectionist

Man I hate the way y'all do these stupid little digs

Kenny took some time off to have a family. He's allowed to just not make music and be out of the public eye. Especially when there's a worldwide pandemic happening (which played a big part in his album)
