I don't like the "this better than that" s*** between legends, just put both of their s*** in your playlist/iPhone and be grateful to have all those incredible music.
At the same time, between all of the OGs, Wayne is the one who been s***ting the most on his legacy, what the hell was that last EP? Funeral? the joint with Chainz pt. 2 was good but we need something on the next level. Jay been doing this, Em been doing this, Nas incredible, we...nah HE needs C6 to be GREAT ASAP.
He can do it, the features run is great he still got that fire but he needs a great PROJECT.
He’s been at it since ‘99. Why cant he just be a legacy act atp
Plus, Wayne is STILL murdering features 3 decades in today.
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkeo8HPs_DkAnd he's still in popular demand for features despite not even f***ing with modern rap like that by his own admission.
Even on God Did, his verse was very potent like Jay's. Jay's was just longer and more memorable.
I love Kendrick and he's a much better artist/musician but I feel people who downplay Wayne here are looking at s*** from a Billboard/Pitchfork/Non Rap POV and not solely a rap POV.
I can understand ranking Kendrick over Wayne based on some criteria but niggas acting like it's unusual to still rank Wayne higher are straight delusional.
Also, Wayne's hip hop songs are also better than people give him credit for.
Kendrick doesn't have too many tracks as smooth as this.
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbsjqHKvo-YWayne is the king of smoothness(especially in his prime)
It was legendary

you yourself mentioned Eminem. carter v was better than any em album this or last decade
Really Wayne’s career only mattered from like Tha Carter 1 to no ceilings. Thats like 6 years. You can keep literally everything else
He has the better discog for sure.
Enlighten me because I'm drawing blanks right now
In his peak era, and im still finding songs he featured on that I never heard before

first of all, CV dropped in 2018 and was recorded and re-recorded multiple times since f***ing 2014, 10 years ago.
Second, you entitled to your opinion but Em's relevancy's is still titanic (all over the world) and his project since 2018 Kamikaze are made with care and purpose from his part.
Wayne been s***tin bad s*** on bad beats for the most part since CV. He didn't even know who the f was XXX and he got 3 collabs with him, Em operates like he care still and that's a big thing since his accomplishments are like 500 C3 worldwide.
And I LOVE CV, it's third in my top 3 Wayne album.
It's sad that I need to stay this since I'm basically a Wayne stan but you spoke BS.

Aura
Aura
lol he defo had more aura but imagine if he took the time to learn a scale instead of just this 3 note run, anyway. Wayne has had so many moments in hip hop where we collectively said “damn, this guy is the one”

em's relevancy stems largely from his past accomplishments and recent pop hits. care or no care (on his part) we dont appreciate em's for the quality of his recent output, although i do think its admirable that he still wants to do this after a career as long as his

"past accomplishments" in this case it's not a bad thing since we're talking about someone who made a song who create a f***ing word in the dictionary + a oscar winning rap song + helped crafting two of the greatest album of all time (2001) + GODT and let's not talking about his own discography during those years.
Em got like three era, the first perfect one, the second not so perfect but incredible in other terms (Recovery was a massive commercial successful album, same TMMLP2 and Relapse it's a cultural classic in the underground with some of the best productions ever from Dr. Dre (don't get distracted from all the controversies around it)
the third one, thanks to the s***ty Revival is another incredible one in term of lyricism and creativity. In the contest of his "past" accomplishment (who by the way are going STRONG on f***ing tik tok) the fact that you get a song like Darkness or The Ringer or GC2 is just outstanding. Of course Lose Yourself will always be more relevant but that's because it's the f***ing Thriller, Purple Rain level of music, not because Em is s*** now lol. We have other serious case of legends with titanic past accomplishments who now they just don't give a f***, thats not Eminem lol.
Kendrick will never be more influential no more how famous he is
Kendrick will never hit a higher peak
And no matter how hard he tries he can never make songs like feel like dying, all alone
Besides he himself is a wayne Stan
Yes kendricj is the best rapper rn but yall gotta stop d***riding
And idk why some people act like wayne cant rap
He had great great verses 10 years ago 5 years ago 2 years ago
He can rap when he wants to

Nothing but facts. Wayne will never leave the top 10
i gotta say that a ton of people will pick wayne for cool points to show theyre heads like that and were there for c3 and whatnot but i just gotta wonder who were all these people back then hating on wayne saying rap music is donezo because of lollipop or something and that wave was SO massive people were making memes about it for the next few years afterwards
Those were mostly bitter Eminem stans or dusty stuck in the 90's rap fans who saw Wayne as the face of modern rap.
Rap fans still largely f***ed with Wayne hardbody and respected him.
Other rappers respected him a ton too. He became "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper" to the late 00's and onward generation.
Even Ice Cube said this about Wayne in 2022.
Wayne also made Jay and Eminem hella insecure by their own admission.
Those Wayne memes were mostly non-rap fans, a couple of dusty backpackers, or Recovery era Eminem stans posting corny memes just because Wayne was the face of rap for some time.

As I mentioned before, Wayne has leveled up as a rapper and spits on an elite level.
He had a musical decline but not a lyrical one.
Even Ice Cube acknowledged how strong Wayne's been as a rapper this decade 2 years ago.
As an og Wayne hater, Wayne obvs had a better career, Kendrick seems more comparable to like 00s TI at this moment. I think he’s bigger and better than TI but Wayne run was pretty singular.
Kendrick has had higher highs quality wise in terms of his commercial discography but if we talking overall about just having the game in a chokehold, you just had to be there for Wayne. There’s not a high school parking lot in America you could go to without hearing either Drought 3, dedication, or Tha Carter bumping. What a time. Tone,Wit, introspection, creativity. At that time, it felt like you couldn’t create a better rapper.

on paper yes but in actuality no
Kendrick has more classic albums, widely regarded as probably being a better pure rapper when it come to subject matter and technical skill and all of the grammys and pulitzers and s***
But there’s no way to describe what lil wayne was 2005-2009 without having lived it lol. Aside from Pac and 50 thats the pinnacle of what it means to be the top rapper
