Who gives a s*** about well thought out themes when you can black out like this
lol it’s actually not. Just because you are in your feelings that your daddy isn’t perfect doesn’t mean I’m disregarding what he’s done right. I’m not a Kendrick Stan and I don’t think all music needs to be thought out but Wayne truly don’t give af and that’s apart of his brand
Really Wayne’s career only mattered from like Tha Carter 1 to no ceilings. Thats like 6 years. You can keep literally everything else
But thats like saying Jordan career only mattered from 1991-1996 lol (not a perfect comparison because of UNC/him being a superstar prior to post season success but yeah lol)

What does critic ratings have to do with a better career? Using this for Kendrick as an argument when he said f*** critics is pretty ironic too lmao
consistency wise yeah but i don’t think anybody can touch the prime wayne had not even drake
Don’t think Kendrick has even come close to a million first week
There’s no way he could in the age of streaming
Kendrick has never reached the heights Wayne has
Not Like Us is probably the closest to that but the only thing I’ll put Kendrick over Wayne is quality control
In 20 years I’ll be playing more Wayne than Kendrick
Love how subjective music is cause I've never listened to his projects more than once

The album conversation is a no contest. He's a mixtape guy

It's a measure of who has better projects. Using an average of many critics also helps narrow down the true score. But with that being said I can agree critics aren't the best judge of things particularly for Hip Hop. But in the case of these two artists think it's clear that Kenny has the better albums by far.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this sounds like a physicals vs streaming era conversation...
But with that said I don't think commercial success of their peak projects is the only measure to look at

By far? I mean if we minimize the conversation to just albums, it doesn’t account for a career conversation as now we’d have to ignore the impact Wayne’s mixtapes had on his career that set him apart from everyone else. I think you can get 6 Wayne projects and put them up against Kendrick projects. And idrc if it wasn’t an album, the nigga put out a project with classic music and the industry categorized it as a mixtape

I think the only reason I wouldn’t compare a Wayne mixtape to a Kendrick album is the lack of original production

But we’re talking career and niggas are breaking down discography specifics lmfao. That’s different conversations
boomers sure love their lil wayne
Do you know how old Boomers are? They’re in their 60s and 70s
I think you got the wrong generation
I really don’t think you could put one over the other in terms of impact
They’re extremely different style wise so it’s very easy to have a personal favorite, but both made a huge impact on the genre

if we’re talking influence i think nearly everyone has wayne as a basis, i can’t really point out any kendrick children in the game rn besides Keem and that doesn’t even really count

You gotta be trolling with that song. That is not elite level rapping. Wayne’s done it before but that is not a good example. Besides that it’s not even pleasant to listen to. His voice is muddled and I can make out a 3rd of the words in my nice headphones, the beat is outdated, spelling in raps will be wack to me 95% of the time. There’s a couple alright lines overall I’d say the song is not good/mid af

Critics aren’t the measure and you’re using Wayne’s worse albums. He’s got a crazy catalog with mixtapes and everything. Carter 2 and 3 are also classics.
That said i do think Kendrick’s the better rapper but better career is dependent on how to value a career

In my opinion yes, In music and sports I rank by averages not by peaks or primes like many prefer to do.
And no I just said it's a measure as in one measure, you should never minimize these convos to just one thing, so I agree there is more to discuss within the career conversation and I acknowledged his mixtapes in a comment earlier but I'd still say Kendrick is better due to my position above, taking just 6 doesn't work for me nor that I think he would lose if you do.
Btw wasn't it his choice to put them out as mixtapes?
