It’s not though, these are really good numbers. FW numbers have been dipping for a while. Drake is more popular than ever but if you could literally shift his catalogue 15-20 years prior because of how they counted the numbers there would be no debate about who runs this s***.

    There’s no debate now either

Kendrick could’ve easily done 500k if the album had at least one banger like Backseat Freestyle DNA Or Alright

Kendrick’s problem is his fan base. They don’t hold him to the high standards they think he meets. You can have deeply meaningful songs be ones you want to listen to over and over again. They pretend like replayability only matters if you want to figure out the album and not because you enjoy it sonically.

Drake got the game on lock because he understands music is about SOUND (insert OVO Sound tag).

If people wanted an essay they’d read an essay. But if that was the case Kendrick wouldn’t stand out because compared to real intellectuals and not mumble rappers, he isn’t saying anything groundbreaking.

If I wanna listen to good raps I think about Gold Roses, Champagne Poetry, Churchill Downs, Seeing Green, Losses, Deep Pockets, etc not Mr Morass

Frankly, if you want bars, schemes, deep meaning and slaps there’s only Drake. Kanye is more a great Director. Kendrick writes well but personally his rapping a bit hit and miss. It’s more exposition than metaphorical. But because he puts it in a weird sentence structure (syntax) people think it’s some lyrical miracle s*** because they have to replay it.

They're great songs. Nothing ground-breaking. I would throw Pipe Down and Bridle Path in there as well.

It isn't that Drake makes bad music, or "makes the same album" or whatever.

He is simply no longer in the same conversation as people who are trying to do something interesting or meaningful in music, and hasn't been since maybe 2015.

    no physicals this time around

Barely any rappers have physicals first week anymore, streaming has become the main form of consumption anyway.

The lack of physicals can explain a dip for sure, but I wouldnt expect a dip this large - but it definitley ain't the worst dip we've seen.

    Neither a W or a L imo

Yeah at this point there’s nobody even close new school or old school

Biggest rap of all time Eminem isn’t even doing half the numbers fw than clb

Don’t think Jay z would either

    It’s really just drake lol

This really the theme of Papi’s Home:

Hear the talks when I walk by like you know it's over when we drop
    Ayy, drop
Yeah, and I'm coming with the wop
    Y'all niggas not poppin'
F*** her, then she goin' shoppin'
Whoa, I'm runnin' out of opps
    They're runnin' out of options
    Put 'em up for adoption
Sign my name on the dot
Ayy, this is not luck, baby, this no four-leaf, no horseshoe
I'm in the bank thinkin', "Poor you"

    That’s not what I’m implying

At a J. Cole show Drake told the audience that his own tour was coming very soon. That was a long time ago and nothing ever happened. He clearly had plans and canceled it for a reason. I personally think it was because of the lukewarm reception to CLB. He doesn’t even talk about the album or promote it anymore. There’s gotta be a reason to all of this. But who knows.

It’s not just because “he don’t really feel like touring”

I’ll gladly take an L if I’m wrong because I’d get tickets to the show

You really think a feller like Aubrey is scared to tour cause his album got mixed reviews??

Aubrey who can tour just off his features and still sell out ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️

I was surprised when CLB came out and I tried to talk to people about it irl. Everyone just brushed it off and said he’s not really an album artist/that type of artist. They didn’t care for it.

But they were excited to talk about DONDA, The Off Season, CMIYGL, and Kendrick.

It makes me wonder if Drake is losing his touch with rap heads.

325k is great in 2022 tbh

Just can’t compare him to real superstars like Aubrey Tay Tay etc..

There’s nothing wrong with not being a big as them

people always put Kendrick rapping over Drake’s because he raps about social issues and the world, but this album shows that when it comes to personal rapping and rapping about themselves Drake is better than Kendrick. Nobody makes better introspective rap than Drizzy

Aubrey who is the most popular artist for probably over a decade?

He doesnt like performing in stadiums. Takes away from the concert experience according to him / less personal
