Because they are horrendous, I'm afraid.

And they weren't horrendous when they were scoring top 10 hits back to back making the same type of music just a few years ago?

In the US, no. Hasn't been for a hot minute. And even oversees, it's more popular in clubs/parties/festivals than it is on their charts.

Y'all don't remember when Calvin Harris/David Guetta were scoring hits like candy from the early 2010s till like 2016-2017? Why do y'all think that suddenly stopped? It's certainly not because they stopped trying, I'll tell you that much.

US is so behind in dance music, compare to say London/Europe etc it's horrendous in its appreciation of all dance music and plebs just call everything "hOuSe MuSiC"

Big fax.. As soon as they got more into the "dance" side of the music than the "pop" side, numbers flat 📉

Rain On Me used bundles to manage that #1 debut and it only spent 4 weeks in the top 10. Also, Laga Gaga has historically always made dance music. That's the sound her fanbase is used to so they had no issues supporting that.

It had more streams than any other song on billboard that week except Rockstar.

It's just amazing to me that some of you really believe that ANY kind of music Drake releases should automatically be successful, simply because it was released by Drake and I don't know if y'all are choosing to be that stupid to troll and to go at Drake fans or if y'all are really just that stupid.

#2 isn't even on the Hot 100. So you tell me

Yet, with just streams, it wouldn't have debuted at #1. It also had a radio deal and its sales (thanks to bundles) is why it was able to debut at #1. The picture you posted shows exactly that. I don't know what you thought you were proving posting it because all it does is support my statement.

You're acting like I said it had 0 streams. Even the BTS songs that debuted at #1 had considerable streams, but that isn't what secured them #1 debuts.

the public don't be liking anything anymore i swear lmao

post malone, adele, ed sheeran, the weeknd, kendrick, drake

f*** even Bruno Mars album flopped lmao

One shared trait with all these names and their most recent releases is that they’re mainstream veterans who’ve lost the magic that capture the public in their music (sans Honestly Nevermind alienating because of the genre). Which is fine, it happens to all the vets eventually

Don’t Start Now went #2 and the only reason it didn’t go #1 was because The Box was a once in a lifetime mega hit for Roddy.

fr I just hope we get more artists inspired by Harry Styles & Bad Bunny's success from now on, tired of all this depressed music

This too. Said it before but the public is tired of depressing music fr. Not just subject matter but chord progressions, production, vocal performances etc

The people have had ENOUGH and they want to feel good

#1 album and #1 song and 3 others in the top 10 isn't successful enough anymore

The point is Drake, as arguably the most popular artist in America, clearly has a major baseline advantage over basically every other artist when dropping anything.

Like, just look at the conversation that's been going on online simply because Drake released a dance album with house music influences.

Look at how ignorant people have been with their takes and how they've exposed how little they know about that kind of music. Yet, you expect those same people to support the album simply because it's a Drake album?

The very same thing Drake fans have been saying: that people aren't supporting the album BECAUSE it's a dance album is being proven right in front of us in how the two most streamed songs off the album are:
    1. The pure rap song.
    2. The song with a dance beat that features Drake rapping.

And y'all are still going on, talking about "but but but it should do well! It's a Drake album after all!"

Y'all are so f***ing stupid, man and I get trolling Drake stans back, that's nothing if not fair, but the way y'all have abandoned ALL SENSE just to do that this week has been sad to watch lmao.

Dance is a huge umbrella term that encompasses
hundreds of different genres. The genre of Don’t Start Now was nu-disco, which is a subgenre of dance.
