That's one difference between Drake and the rappers of this present generation. No one is staking a claim.
Lil Wayne was calling himself the greatest rapper alive and no one could dispute it because he was outworking/outrapping everyone on everything. After a while, everyone just accepted it as the truth.
Drake staked his claim. Same with Hov. Same with Kanye. Same with Eminem. Same with everyone else who ever ran s***.
These new cats don't wanna none of that. Even when they make their claims on records, it doesn't hit because there's no follow through with real actions. It's just talk for talk sake.
Cause the streets mostly define the direction of rap, and these young boys from the streets rapping grew up in an era where rap was the biggest thing and the street rappers they looked up to as cool (Thug, Future, etc) didn’t care about getting the crown either. So that’s two huge reasons to take staking a claim for granted
The previous gens cared about that because their goats cared about it, and rap hadn’t fully grown out of its competitive and hungry nature yet
Has anyone ever broken down how much of the runtime of each Drake project is comprised of hiphop songs with pure rapping?
That could be pretty fun. I’d like to see those percentages
you're in the right place for statisticians/spreadsheet makers

Can he go 3X platinum by the end of the year?
Easily. Better question is if he can go 4X platinum by the end of the year

He’s starting his stadium tour soon. We’ve seen artists get a boost in sales while they’re on tour..
I never seen a era of rap when the big dawg that ran the culture couldn’t sell 400k+ first week besides the 80’s.
This is a different era tbh. Not really fair to Lil Baby. Plus it’s the actual culture bigging him up, just cause he doesn’t have the extra sales from pop fans it doesn’t mean he’s not the big dog right now.
We’ve seen the biggest artists not sell or will barley touch 300k and we really expecting Lil Baby, being the type of rapper he is to match or outdo CLB? Why does the people that actually matter(hip hop fans, the people that matter and hip hop media) have no say so? Sound like cope.
Anyone who wants to take over from Drake has to outdo him. It's really that simple. Drake had to do the same thing so it's funny when people act like you're being unfair when you set the same standard for other rappers. Drake was outselling a Jay Z/Kanye West collab album/scoring bigger hits than them 2 years into his career. Everyone knew it was over when that happened and then what followed was a run of unprecedented dominance over all his peers.
You can't be the #1 dawg when the guy who did that is still scoring bigger hits than you and outdoing you in his sleep. It might seem unfair but that's simply how it is. You can't reduce the standard for what it means to be the #1 guy simply because the current #1 guy set the bar so high. If you want to claim that title, you have to have to find a way to outdo him (something Lil Baby doesn't even seem interested in doing, which is what makes the people rushing to crown him look funny).
Drake wanted the #1 spot, said so on records and then went on to do just that. Lil Baby just wants to be make enough money to feed his family, live a decent life and be known as a really good rapper (and he's already doing all of that). He's not making any stake for the #1 spot — at least not yet.
Niggas try to claim 09-2011 as part of Drake run lol and Weezy and Em were still outdoing him. Y’all switch narratives so much it must be hard to keep up.
Gonna post the numbers later

This thread is just Stan wars. It’s not even really about the charts anymore.
It always was. Look at the original title of the thread lol

It was created with that in mind lmao. Was never about sales
